    Hey TW!

I'm just trying to see if anyone can help me out. So this issue came up twice already where i would come to a complete stop and let my foot off the brake onto the accelerator and it would sound like my truck is in neutral and then feels like it kicks back into gear. My truck never did this and the only other thing i did before this issue happening was an oil change.

    Anything helps. Thank you

Sounds like you are low on transmission fluid. Did they drain some fluid from the transmission fluid pan by mistake. It happened to me.

Sounds like you drained your AT fluid, and overfilled your oil.

If you get your oil changed at a quick lube place it might be a good idea to get a paint pen and write "trans fluid" next to the transmission drain plug.

    Well?

Have you checked the engine oil level yet? Maybe crawled under the truck to look for wrench marks on the transmission pan drain bolt?

    Don't leave us hanging.

sorry guys. i've been running around all over the place trying to get this situated. i'm at work so i had a shop redo the oil correctly however they couldn't do the transmission fluid due to it being "sealed" i didn't bother arguing so i tried setting up an appointment with a toyota dealership over here and well they are backed up for 6 WEEKS! but they did recommend a shop they send overflowed customers to so i set up an appointment with them for tomorrow. i hope i didn't damage the trans too much :/

Did you get them to admit that they drained transmission?

If you did drain the transmission fluid I'd be looking for a buddy with a tow strap or a flat bed tow truck. Don't want to keep driving that sucker with a dry tranny!

No worries. This place is for learning. sharing our "oopses" is just fine.

Glad you got it straitened out.

As long as you were not beating on your truck, no damage is going to occur.

Its not dry, there is more fluid in the transmission and lines than what is in the pan, but still its not good to drive with it low.

Ouch. If your trans was so low on fluid that it was slipping/kicking out of gear I'd be a bit worried.

I consider myself very "mechanically inclined" and I did it on my RZR on my first oil change. The drain plugs are very close together and my tiny brain malfunctioned.

Don't feel bad; this is how we learn things. I did it on my mom's Paseo years ago. Didn't do any long term harm.

I am new, Hello, to the forum and I drained my transmission fluid by mistake too. I am used to unscrewing 16 bolts or so around the transmission and dropping the pan for a transmission oil change. I never ever imagined having a vehicle with a transmission drain plug looking exactly like an engine oil drain plug. I refilled it with a funnel where the transmission dip stick is located in back of engine compartment. Now I am glad to have this feature.
