Im having a weird issue when I'm coming to a stop and it doesn't happen all the time. It almost seems like when I'm coming to a complete stop it just has a rough down shift. Thats the best way I can describe it. Like I've said its not 100% of the time I drive either. I have no mods as far as the tranny, engine or supspension goes. Although I do have OVtune ready to flash but haven't done so yet. Ive only had the truck for about a week and a half. 2018 TRD OR AT.
Will be making an appointment after the holidays since ill be out of town with the truck.
Has or is anyone else experiencing similar symptoms?

Google axle wrap. You have it. No biggie.

Nice, I guess it’s pretty common. I’ve never experienced this issue before on my other trucks. I drove Nissan Titans before the Taco. I can live with it since I know now what it is.

It seems odd to me as well. The 1st gen trucks do not have the bellows on the telescoping part of the drive shaft and they do not have this issue.

Second, 3rd gens have a cover and this is a common issue.

It’s not axle wrap. If you mean a clunk into first, I get that sometimes as well. Not sure what it is, but it’s like the torque converter is locking up when it shouldn’t, or ther is way too much play in the driveline. I’m sure it’s neither of those, but that’s what it feels like. Mine only started since I did the latest ECU update.

It's not axle wrap. I had it happen on my 2018 OR. It happened maybe 2-3 times a week. Always when coming to a stop on that last downshift. Some people say it happens mostly when it's cold. But I didn't find that to be the case necessarily. I think it's a transmission thing.

And FYI- my dealer/service advisor knew about the problem but he said there isn't a fix yet.

I’m not sure what it is either but all the opinions make sense so far. My attempt at searching didn’t show any results since I couldn’t describe it lol. I appreciate the help guys.

Does it feel like someone rear ended you?Or like something in your bed slid forward into the cab? If so then it is not axle wrap. It’s the transmission and/or torque converter. I go to the largest Toyota dealer in my state. Their number one complaint across all Toyota models is that exact issue. Shop manager deals with it daily he said. Sounds like OVTune got rid of it so Toyota should be able to easily as well. Maybe one day. Lol

My dealer also said they get the complaint a lot. For me it feels like when I'm almost stopped, someone gives me a bumper tap from behind.

Same here. It doesn’t matter if my first stop of the day or a 100 mile trip. I hope they have a fix soon.

Mine has done it a few times. I only notice it when the truck is cold. Goes away after driving for less then a mile.

Mine does it too.. feels like a harsh down shift... or the locker engaged suddenly during downshift.
