Weird noise 2017 trd off-road

. Sounds like when you run your finger around the rim of crystal wine glass . anyone has this ? Any ideas how to fix ? https://youtu.be/mV76JHlTVl4 . I have the v6 and same issue and sounds the same. Tnx. It doesn't come on all the time .

Front LCA Howl unless they plug them now

 

Sounds like the whistling A frames problem. Crawl under and see if the holes on your A frames are plugged or not.

I get that too sometimes.

No idea what is going on.

 

Almost certainly the howling a arms. Easy to test out, just cover your holes on the a arms with tape and see if it goes away. My 17 OR currently is rolling this way.

Does it happen only at certain speeds?

 

Widow or door seal bad? Def. sounds like air though to me.

 

I didn't really hear a noise other than it seemed like the motor was working pretty hard to get up to speed.

 

I did not really hear any noises in that video other than what sounds like a slight transmission whine.

 

Narrow the sound down a little more
What gear are you in when you hear the sound ? does downshifting make it go away ?
Bring the truck up to the speed where you hear the sound , keep your foot on the gas and downshift 1 gear . Do you still get the sound when you downshift ?
What rpm is the engine running at when you hear the sound ?
If you rev up the engine in your driveway while you are parked , do you get the sound ?
Does shifting to 4x4 make the sound go away ?
Do you get the sound on accel as well as decel ?
Sorry bout more questions . Sounds can be difficult to diagnose from the keyboard in comparison to actually test driving the vehicle

 

No noise like that in 20 months of ownership. My LCA noise sounded like you're blowing on a jug, not like that.

 

The whine of the turbo spooling up!

 

Usually but rarely it happens near the end of upshift either 2nd to 3rd gear or 3rd to 4rth but only for a split second at a certain rpm and engine load. Yesterday while doing the ac drain tube mod, I accidentally tapped on the aluminum heat sink it's so flimsy it might vibrate and I think that's causing it. Something might cause it to resonate and make a sound (like when you tap a tuning fork) during load/trans /engine vibration. Not sure.

 

Take the truck for a drive and watch the tach as you listen for the sound at the same time .
Park in the driveway and rev the engine matching the engine rpm to where you heard the sound during upshifts . Do you still get the sound ?
This will eliminate the complete drivetrain from the equasion if you still get the sound while parked
EDIT if you dont get the sound by running the truck up to the rpm where you hear the sound in park , select drive range first gear and hold the brakes hard , then slowly bring the revs up to match the rpm listening for the sound .
This is called a stall test and will test for resonance under load .
A word of caution though . You must allow the transmission to cool after performing such a test . Leave the engine running in park to cool the transmission.
Dealerships often use a stall test to eliminate noise complaints . If you can reproduce the noise in the driveway without test driving the vehicle , a lot of diagnostic time is saved

 

Do you have an automatic or a manual transmission? I know there was a TSB for high pitched whine on the manual trans, I had it done on mine! They installed a new insulator on the side of the transmission.
