Hey all. First post here, tried a search, but I see Forum software search hasn't improved in a few years.

I just bought a 2013 Prerunner SR5 V6 extended cab, with only 60k on the clock. Fully stock as far as I can tell. Below BB, even. It needed tires ASAP, and was already priced in, so I pulled the trigger 2 days later on a set of Michelin Defender LTX M/S 265/70 R16, which is listed as a "factory tire size" for this model. It had 245/75 R16 on it, but I wanted a little wider tread.

So, no objections from the tire place (national brand) and two days later, after driving a couple hundred miles on all types of roads - potholed streets, freeways, etc., I was coming home from work, going about 70, on an overfly between highways, when I heard what sounded like a tire lightly rubbing on the passenger side. Weird part was, it sounded like it was coming from the passenger seat.

Ahh..ok. Enough of the story. If these "factory size", slightly wider, tires were rubbing on anything, I'd hear it way more often than just one chunk of a freeway, right? I've looked and everything seems to have clearance. I'm still only a couple weeks into driving it, and I love it, just want to make sure I didn't screw the pooch by not checking on the wider "factory tire" fitment.

If you've read this far, Thanks.

    Jim

Sooo...turns out it is wind noise from the door weather stripping. Found a TSB #MC-10131725-9999, but the warranty expired with the last owner. Great! Time to look up some home-brew fixes, I guess. I was in a pretty good cross-wind coming home today. Loud wind noise on the drivers side, and the "kazoo" sound from the passenger side, which is what I heard when I posted the first in this thread.

    Welcome to Tacoma World.
Hopefully someone will post a link related to this issue. My wifes 2013 has the kazoo sound in strong crosswind and sometimes a whistle in cold weather between 30-40 mph
