I’ve got a 5vfe 3.4L that just got a new water pump/timing belt thrown in it.

Since this the truck has made a weird noise while cranking and will not run.

It’s getting fuel in the lines in engine new spark plugs air intake is fine.

Wondering if anyone else knows a possible problem.

If it started after the timing belt job, I'd be pulling the timing cover off and taking a look.
If you need help with timing marks, I might be able to dig some diagrams up for you?

I agree with TnShooter. With the limited info it sounds like you may have the valve timing set incorrectly. That will certainly make unusual noises when cranking.

From what I can tell it’s still in time.
I’ve got the cover taken off and everything looks as it was when put back together

I tried attaching a video but it wouldn’t let me

With what you said MadNachos I’ll be honest my knowledge is pretty limited compared to post people on this website so I can only describe what I can hear sorry

There's your problem. That work needs more precision than just 'thrown in'.

    I'll third this motion.

It is always a good move to look for sockets or other tools that may have fallen behind the crank balancer or elsewhere if you have an unusual noise but otherwise I would need to hear the sound it is making. Are you getting spark? It's 'suck, squeeze, bang, blow' so check and make sure it's getting fuel and spark. If you can post a video or audio file somewhere and share the link here I would be happy to check it out.

What kind of a weird noise - a metal-on-metal scraping sound? A tapping sound? A bearing-like sound? I would pull the cover off and manually rotate the crank until the timing marks on the crank and cam pulleys line up (or not).

    That is an excellent idea.

In my own shame I once chased a random rattle and/or scraping sound on an old M3 after I rebuilt the engine. It drove me nuts. Nothing made sense. Then I happened to catch the shine of a 8MM socket that was just hanging out behind the crank damper. No way would anyone think a socket could sit there after aggressive driving but it happens. I just reached down and pulled it out. Point being that if you are having random sounds...look for random crap.
