    Hey all,

I have a second gen Taco and it makes a weird sound about 30 seconds after start up like it is blowing off pressure and then at shut down it makes a sound like an elephant then the sound sounds ends with a PSHHH! (hense I named her Elle! LOL) I have the 4.0 with 107K on it? Has anyone else heard anything like this?

    Any comments are appreciated! Thanks!

You may want to look into doing the Uni filter mod as a preventative measure to keep the foam filter from getting sucked into the valves.

I checked my foam filter and it's ok BUT i would like to upgrade. The only Valve breather I can find is a K&N, would that be too restrictive? I don't think that you can oil it either?? What's your thoughts?

Yeah, shut-off sound is normal as stated above. Weirded me out too when I bought my 2013. You'll see tons of threads on this site asking the same thing. Can't say I've experienced the sound after start-up though

I don't think so, it should be very similar to the Uni.
No need to oil it, it's just there to keep bigger stuff and bugs out it's not an engine air filter.

It typically runs for 30-60 secs on a cold start, you may or may not hear it with the engine running.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions guys!

Maybe I am over thinking things but, I have a breather that is meant to insert into a valve cover that would fit. Would that be adequate enough to filter the dirt?

It makes a sound about 20-30 seconds after start up and right after shut down. The start just sounds like it's taking in air and the shut down sounds like it's blowing it off! Thank!
