Hey guys, I noticed a small leak on my 2007 2TR-FE 4 cylinder last night. I've heard it could be the front crank seal or the timing cover. Any other advice? How much do you guys think it'll cost to get it fixed? Thanks in advance, guys!

Looks like a timing cover leak or valve cover leak. My 2TR-FE has a similar leak at the timing cover and from the o-rings on the oil filter block.

If it's a timing cover it's not cheap. Several thousand.
My local dealer quoted mine at 2800 dollars in parts and labor.

Any luck finding the source of your leak?

You could buy a crate motor for that then pay someone to put it in.

It will get you a junk yard 2TR-FE and some new seals, gaskets and hard parts.

Toyota crate engine cost was upwards of 6k and no labor in that cost.

I hear you there. I've got a few leaks too. Mine looks like the timing cover. I'm gonna clean it all up and see what happens.

It's timing cover, looks like the mating surface where the head and the block meet. This is common as when the silicone shrinks and gets hard it leaves little gaps.
Never resealed a timing cover on one of these engines yet, but not too hard for the mechanically inclined. shop around for prices at private shops. or talk to a toyota mechanic and see if they will do it on the side ;)

It's the timing chain cover. It's the gasket that is having the issue. When a bought my truck I found that the truck had this exact problem. Owner fixed it before I bought it for $550 at an independent shop. It's all labor the part is like $5.
