Hi! This is my first post, but I've been reading the forums for a while now. I just bought a 2006 Tacoma DoubleCab Sport, and it had a few mods on it from the previous owner. It came with a cap (now removed and stored) and 20" rims. It also came with a weird part in the glove box. I don't think it's a stock part and I can't figure out what it's for! Does anybody recognize this??

Here's my new baby (before cap was removed):

    Thanks for the advice!!

Is it supposed to just be sitting in there?? The only loop that was attached was the loop at the end of the part that moves in and out? Maybe it's installed incorrectly then?

Mounts on the right side. it slows the glove box from falling. chances are the cab filter was replaced and they didn't know how to hook that part back up..

Haha... don't feel bad. I stared at that part for awhile in my glove box too, having no idea what it was. it wasn't till i pulled on it and it was obviously a spring loaded dampner that it clicked. just had to look for where it hooked to the other side. its awkward to do though for sure.

Thanks! LOVE it so far! It's pretty dusty in AZ so I foresee some serious washes ahead of us :) Already put a fresh coat of wax on it and it looks a TON better without the cap. Next mod will be chrome or polished steel nerf bars. Might install them this month.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the rims. I like the look a lot, but there's so much offroading in AZ and they're not exactly made for that. Hard to find beefy tires for a 20" wheel too...

U don't really need that dampener. It'll fall right back out unless u do something to keep it from falling.
