I have an 05 taco 2.7 and recently it’s been revving higher than normal when I put it in neutral and coast, it used to idle when doing that at around 600 to 800 and now it’s doing it at 1100. And whenever I put it in neutral from let’s say 4th, it’ll stay at the RPM it was at in 4th like 2000 RPM until I rev it or just leave it alone for a second. I just cleaned my throttle body last week and think it might be the TPS need help

Ideally when cleaning the throttle you want to disconnect the battery and have it start from scratch.

I would disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and try it again. The ECU often idles higher as it doesn't have to combat carbon build up.

This may not do anything but its a starting point.

Well the thing is i did do that. For maybe an hour or so I think but that did basically nothing besides reset my radio. I was sure to unplug the battery before taking it apart and then put the throttle body on and everything plugged in before I turned the car on. Any other suggestions?

Oddly enough there is no lights at all. I didn’t drive it after I cleaned it I just revved it for about 5 minutes pressing it hard and revving high then slowly let off and kept doing for a while

Check the connections around your air intake post maf, most likely unmetered air is getting in

I’ve checked every hose, I got a cold air intake on it so maybe that could be causing a problme but it’s been on there for so long and it’s never done anything like this before

A friend of mine just sprayed carb cleaner in his without removal and the throttle sticking got worse for him.

When I did mine I took it off the truck, new gasket, etc. and made absolutely sure the butterfly axle was free and clear.

If it's not the butterfly sticking anymore, maybe it just needs to relearn. Might take a few days to a week.

Perhaps try disconnecting the battery again and this time no revving after.
