Anyway, we got a lot of snow yesterday ... About 6" of the really wet heavy stuff that sticks to everything. So I'm going to the hardware store and all of a sudden the light on the dash comes on that says the 'Anti Collision' .. Or the automatic braking, whatever it's called comes on, saying it's OFF.
I get to where I'm going and thumb thru the menu. It says it's ON ... But the dash says it's OFF.
So, and though I'm not sure where it's at, I wipe all the snow/dirt of the grille (Thinking it's around there somewhere and maybe just dirty or covered in gunk) ...
    Well, nothing changed.
So parked it in the shop overnight and everything melted off .. Started it up today and no light on the dash. Everything working fine.
So could it be the sensor just had a bunch of snowy/mud/crud on it? Does it even matter? Is this something that needs cleaned off in crappy weather? If so, where is it, and if I need to wipe the gunk off of it?
Or could this be something completely else?

Might have been snow blocking the sensor or camera or both on the rear view mirror looking forward.

Pretty normal, the sensor is the toyota logo on the front grill. The snow will cake on it and disable the sensor. Sometimes it takes a restart to make it go away... I would rather not have the sensors in the snow personally anyways.

Yep, mine does the same. The radar is behind the grille emblem. I carry a spray bottle filled with windshield washer fluid and just rinse the emblem on snowy/salty days.

It's pretty normal during heavy snow and slush.
I would get the same message on my 2018 when slush built up on the grill.
    I wouldn't worry.

Ah, OK .. thanks guys. I was worried my new rig had some sort of prob already... Whew.. LOL!
So the sensor up front ... Like a radar detector, doesn't need a nice clear optical line-of-sight?
OK, If I know what's going on, no worries. I'll just carry a spray bottle with me .. As I do anyway ... (I'm the guy that carries a roll of paper towels and Windex anyway .. LOL!)

Gotcha'! Thank you. I'm wondering, since the sensor is behind a thick hunk of plastic, it's not 'optical' like a radar detector? So, is it that the sensor just gets too 'cold' maybe?
I get ya though ... Those of us who drive in some really bad weather conditions ... Especially on ice/snow ... It's best to not have the truck 'braking' for you. That can possibly get you in a lot of trouble real quick.

Should not be temperature related. If you're getting the message/dash light, then hopefully you'll find slush buildup on the Toyota emblem that is centered in the grill. The truck drives the same with or without the radar, so maybe just ignore it as long as you know the cause.
