    1999 Auto Prerunner, 89k miles. Yes, 89k.

I purchased it about 2 months ago and have been fixing things along the way while I daily it. I've got most of it done, but this weird shifting problem has me stumped. I'll describe the symptoms.

Shifts are slightly rough when driving. They are definitely rougher with the AC running.
Here is the major problem. If the AC is running and I slowly brake to a stop, a few seconds later the truck will lurch forward as the transmission seems to "disengage". It's like it can't get OUT of gear when coming to a stop. This doesn't really occur with the AC off. I suspect the higher RPMs with the AC running is related.

Since I'm not that familiar with the internal workings on the transmission, I'm not sure if it's having difficulty downshifting from second to first, or from first to neutral.

The lurch is problematic and worrying. Sometimes it can "clunk" quite loudly and jerk the truck forward. Any suggestions? Fluid level looks good (maybe a TAD high) and definitely not burnt.

    Thanks!

After reading the thread on using the Ubolts to fix the axle wrap, I would say that yes, it sounds like my problem.

HOWEVER, I replaced the leaf springs 500 miles ago. Is the ubolt fix just for old springs, or should I give it a try and see how it goes?
