Hey guys, was just wondering about a weird "squeaky brake" like sound that my truck is making when I drive. It basically makes the sound the entire time I drive and I noticed it a few days ago.

My brakes do squeak a little, but this sound isn't just when I brake.

    Any ideas?

Sounds to me like the brake pad wear indicator. When was the last time you put new pads on? When the pad wears down enough it will squeek all the time.

if its not the pads, check the wheel bearings

Not sure but the wife's 4runner does the same thing since the day I changed the pads. Thought about beveling the edges of the pads to see if it would eliminate it? Also could be a wheel bearing?

Right when my brake pads were getting down to the wear indicators, the indicators would only squeak while the brakes were disengaged. As soon as I hit the brakes the sound would go away. It confused the shit out of me for a few weeks before I finally just took the front wheels off and started looking around for problems. I saw the pads were down to the indicators and could see an little chunk of the indicator missing right where it was rubbing on the corner of the rotor. It's hard to explain but you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it if this is your problem. Changed my pads (while leaving that stupid noisemaker on the old ones) and no more problems... yet
