Did you get your smell to go away?
Mine is still there. It comes in whiffs. Specially if I change the temperature from heater to AC. It’s happening a lot now that it’s cold here in Florida. I guess it has something to do with using the heater and also the AC.

    driving me nuts.

My bet is on coolant and that youve got a shitty heater core. Take it in for waranty repair. Ic they "cant reproduce the issue" call and create a case with Toyota.

There is an off gassing smell from the heater core when its brand new. Perhaps that's what you're smelling.

It's definitely different than coolant smell, and also different than the new car smell. It's unique.

Just an fyi to anyone who comes across this thread. There should NEVER be a time where you ignore a smell of coolant. Unless you know for certain it is because you spilled some under the hood it is never ok to smell. Coolant is under high pressure and it is very easy for a pinhole leak to only appear under certain situations and can easily be on the bottom of a coolant hose or somewhere else that you cant see. If you are under warranty take it in and tell them you smell coolant.

Coolant is sweet-smelling. If you've ever had cooling system problems, you will never forget the smell.

Take a whiff from the overflow tank WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. You'll probably smell the same. If you're ever smelling coolant in the cabin, it's almost certainly the heater core.

Mine only comes on when the heater is on too but, its progressively going away as I put more miles on mine. I just hit 1200 miles and don't really smell anything anymore. I think it was new car coating burning off.

I had it a couple of times in by new 2019 Tacoma last month, had less than 1K on it. It hasn't happened again and there were no issues driving. I assumed it was just something burning off.
