Hey guys. 04 2wd with the 2.4 manual 5 speed with just over 60k original miles. Upon deceleration it has a pronounced ticking sound much like a loose valve or several of them. Once you give it just a bit of throttle the sound completely goes away. Yes, it does have the classic timing chain rattle at idle that goes away after 1500rpm but this is under deceleration only and in every gear and if you Rev it up at a stand still and listen to it come back down to idle. I have listened to it up front and it seems to maybe be coming from the engine but not sure. This transmission does also have a bad input shaft bearing and I plan to pull the transmission and have it rebuilt but I don't think they are related. Any thoughts here?
