Hey everyone. Ive got a 23 Tacoma TRD Sport and have an issue with the tire pressures. My tire light flashes and stays on most of the time. The only time it goes out is when the truck is wet (wash, rain, dew) and it starts to come back on as the truck dries. Ive checked all my pressures at the tires. When the light comes on the screen doesn't show any of the pressures. I used my TPMS scan tool to try to relearn the system but it comes out with "read ID fail" when communicating with the truck. Hoping someone can help. Thanks!

I'll take at least one dead TPMS battery for $1 Owen

Not sure what the wet has to do with anything though.

But certainly a solid Friday thread.

My wife's 2010 Camry does the "low pressure flash of shame" and then goes solid upon starting the engine. It means that one or more of the TPMS sensors have failed. And her car has the old school system that just tells you that a low pressure issue exists, but not which tire is the culprit! You still have to manually measure each tire to determine which one is low. I told my wife I would address it when the car needed new tires and to pretend that it is 1975 until then. (but I do check her tire pressure regularly :) )

Have to tried pushing the TPMS Reset button below the steering column?

Also, since you have a 2023, do you have any warranty left?

Warranty just ended. I have tried resetting it but it didn't work. My scan tool showed that all the batteries were good. Wheels and sensors were brand new with the truck. The really weird part is that I can count on the light being off if it rained overnight. After 1/2 an hour of driving, it comes back on.

Maybe a bad ground? But where? My theory is that the water is completing the ground circuit and when it dries the circuit opens.

A ground would make sense. Even a loose connector. Is there an antenna underneath the truck where it could have been knocked loose?

Have you tried unhooking the Negative battery cable for 30 minutes?

The TPMS ECU is located above the headliner, in the rear IIRC.

Then moisture should only be affecting the tire sensors. I might have to bring it to Toyota and let them deal with it. I tried a hard reset on the computer but get "TPMS malfunction" displayed on the screen.

    Mine are also weird.
About a month ago the dash light started flashing and the TP wouldn't showing anything more than the 3 dashes, i pulled over, checked the pressure with my gauge and it was fine, i figured the batteries in the sensors finally died, no biggie i'll get to it when i get to it.
Been doing that for a month until last week. Driving home from work 1 night and the light goes off, i get home and scroll over to see what it shows and it was giving me pressure readings and it's been working fine since then. I don't really care either way, i just want it to be consistent.
