So this past weekend I purchased a used weldtec designs long travel kit, I really don’t know much about them and I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I bought the kit for $1,400 bucks. It’s 6.5 over each side. And I have to buy hardware. Any experiences with this kit or advice. Pictures coming soon

Judging that its going on your 03 then its for the 1st gens. I have never seen their kits or work. Never seen they made a kit for our trucks, must be a rare kit. Looks good, have any more pictures? I'm just wondering what hub it uses I'm going to guess a 2.5 Race hub? Or actually the factory hub looks like it , that's a huge snout

Yes going on my 03 and the guys says it uses factory hubs. The spindle needs a little work and I’ll show you why. Both side looks like this

Oh wow, wonder how that happened. Maybe incorrect steering placement, or tie rod heim was binding. Id call weld tec see what they say.Fix it with 3/16" it looks to be 1/8" but could be wrong.

I’m located in Anaheim and El Cajon is a little far for me. Wanted to see if someone closer would look at it. I’ll post most picture as time goes by bits pretty interesting. Only uses a coilovers. No room for bypass unless I have a new upper arm made.

Hey maybe you would know. How much work would it be to convert that hub to race hub? What what size would you recommend?

Yeah i see that in SD. Yeah team no bypass haha. In sure with correctly valved coilover and air bump off the top of the spindle or arm would do pretty nice. Gonna need to do an engine cage or shock hoop anyways with that upper arm. Also check for bumpsteer on the steering. Not sure how much work. Only down side to the factory hub is that its not easily servicable and its pressed on. A 2.0 hub would be plenty. Heck many run dana 44 such as me with no issues.

I think you can cut that snout off and get it down to flat . And weld on a 2.0 snout. Or if possible cnc machine the center and drill holes tap for a bolt on snout, which is same dana 44 bolt pattern . Just race snout is 12 holes double of dana 44. Of course all of those options brake caliper postion changes and probably larger caliper would be needed.

Here is where I’m at. Need a tool for the uniball to press it in but this is the kit.

Nice looks exactly like the tundra kit that's searched on google. Also just start gathering all your other parts. Looks like inner sleeves for the lower arms, uniballs, spacers, heims for tie rods. And I don't know if you got it but a billet clevis for the rack and the bolts.

Got mostly everything but don’t have the steering clevis and need just a couple more heims. Going to have to have the spindles painted again once they get worked on.

Im sure the kit is fine but I have thoughts.

    - Little strange that the steering tie-rod mounts are 1/8" plate.

    - Does the upper control arm have a bracket that bolts on to encapsulate the upper uniball on the spindle? I circled the area in the pic below. Looks like six 1/4" counter sunk screws are screwed into that UCA. I assume those holes are drilled and tapped. The could have designed the UCA to fit a bolt through the upper uniball and not have some sort of bolt on bracket.

    - Kind of strange to see a fully machined UCA and then have the spindle various thickness of plate.

    - What grade of steel is the spindle and LCA?

Also if you need billet tie rods and heims, you could call Solo Motorsports and see if they could make something for you - their steering design is pretty similar on first gen trucks - there's a couple other companies that make them too like TC and Camburg I believe.
