    ^^ +1

Struck by a moving or flying object = comprehensive coverage in Ontario, Canada.

I smoked a deer in mid air as it jumped over the hood of a car coming the opposite way. I had it gutted and on the roof rack of the Exploder before the cops got there. (Local county boys were trying to claim it out from under me.) The cop laughed when I told her that's where it landed. $5K in damages to the front end, but I still drove it home under police escort. It's a small town.

    Glad you're OK.

Years ago, I was on the Interstate and kept seeing something fluttering in the back of a Ford Ranger... At first, I thought maybe it was black garbage bags, then suddenly- his entire black plastic drop in bed liner came flying out. Luckily, no one else was in the other lane, and I barely swerved in time to miss it ..... Very close call ....glad you are OK.

That sucks. Glad it didnt bounce up and get to the windshield.
I know the feeling though. Hit a couch on the highway in the middle of the night. Lucky for me, the only "major" damage is the scar on one of my doors. You could always buy it back if totaled and part it out. I know I need a rad red passenger side rear door.

That sucks but I'm happy to hear you're alright. I saw a large floor Jack slide out of the back of a pickup as it crossed a divided highway. I watched as a car hit it square in the middle, the floor Jack tumbling along underneath the car. A lot of bluesmoke and metal before the driver stopped it. I tried to catch the pickup but the dude was long gone.
I hope everything turns out in your favor.

Well, it is what it is. Yeah, I'm pissed that some lunkhead managed to drop or lose a tire and rim in the middle of the interstate and NOT NOTICE, but it happened, and there's no use fretting and fuming about it!:annoyed:

One thing you really have to consider while driving in addition to other vehicles and pedestrians is objects in the road. Just about any road derbies can cause serious damage to your ride even cause a loss of control.
Driving safely is a full time activity to say the least.

Most of us never think about the dangers of hitting stuff on the highway (or stuff hitting us) because it doesn't happen very often. The damage sucks but thankfully you weren't injured. Cops and DOT crews do their best to get stuff out of the way but sometimes shit happens.

A good friend of one of my friends was killed two years ago on I-93 in Hooksett, NH when a wheel/tire came off a semi trailer, jumped over the median barrier and slammed through the windshield of her SUV as she was driving down the highway in the middle of the day. My father had a near miss six years ago on I-290 in Worcester, MA when a brick was kicked up by a truck in front of him and smashed into the radiator and hood of his Yukon, disabling his truck. A couple of inches higher and it may have killed him.

    Be safe out there.

oh man, what's with all the Tacomas getting wrecked lately!!

Glad you're okay OP, one thing I've noticed with all these accidents that seem to be happening lately is that everyone is walking away from them alright.

Sorry about your truck though :(

Yes but he may be able to file suit with the state on a small claims matter to get reimbursed for the costs. It is the state's job to maintain safe road conditions. So depending on the damages it may be something one could pursue with in small claims court. Who knows, his insurance may do it on his behalf.

Some more pics, with better lighting and in a bit closer. Maybe someone can see what's what with the suspension...

lower control arm looks bent and maybe cracked on the end towards tire. spindle probably isn't straight and check the UCA frame mounting point, might not be like it was any more.

I'm just wondering if the frame itself might have gotten bent, or just the suspension components. If it's just components, they can be replaced, but a bent frame is not good. Worried about the fact that the fender itself is now hitting the door when it is opened, so the sheet metal has been shoved back a bit.
Now it's just the waiting game until I hear something...

Seems to be a typical fuster cluck so far!
I Didn't hear anything for several days, so I called my local insurance agent yesterday. She called the claims adjuster, who called the body shop. The body shop called me, and told me they DIDN'T even have the truck yet, and they were going to call the towing company to find out why.
THEN, the claims adjuster called me a bit later, and told me that when he talked to the body shop, they DID have the truck there, and hopefully I should know something soon. Either someone is lying, or the guy who called me from the body shop was a flunky that wasn't familiar with the truck. Who Knows??
At least I got reimbursed for the cost of the rental car, and the insurance is paying for it until I get either my truck back, or I buy another vehicle.
Also, I was told that my policy will cover at least some of the cost of the aftermarket parts I put on the truck of it is totaled, so that's good news.
Man, I really hate having to deal with insurance companies! :annoyed:

O.K. it's now 11 DAYS and I STILL don't know the truck's status. Anyone else ever had to fight like hell just to get basic information from the Insurance Company?

I can't help you with the insurance thing but I have a question....what is the airbag like in these things? I was in a fender bender in a mazda b2500 at ~10mph and it just so happened to hit the sensor on the front. The airbag deployed, and I could only assume it was made out of dang army tent canvas or something unforgiving. It actually broke my arm. I'm just curious about the airbags in the Tacomas after that incident.
