My Taco was taken from me before her time by an inattentive driver. She turned left across the intersection as I was going straight through at 40 MPH with a green light. Claimed to the officer that she didn't see me.

2013 TRD Offroad, 6MT. Just over 110,000 miles and I had owned it for just about 8 years... was planning on keeping it for a lot longer. Truck was totaled and I decided to replace it with something completely different. Thanks for all the info over the years, this is a great forum.

Hmm, surprised that totaled it. Bent frame? It seems to be going around. Enjoy the VW. I dig the plaid seats. Classic styling.

    That's why I bought a dash cam. They're inexpensive. I don't trust anyone.

personally, I would consider buying it back if the price is right, rebuild and keep as a spare.

Oh no, I am glad you are OK. I had a similar incident with my 1st gen, but the second hit into the pole really finished the job.

Quite a 180 to go from a great offroad truck to a nice little city-fied pocket-rocket!

    He’ll be back.

    dang, a fender hit…

who’s gonna make a DIY on these Australian fender bars and fitting one between steel front + bolt on sliders?

not sure who makes this part
If it fits 3rd gen, might fit 2nd gen

    IMG_1839.jpg

would be tricky to finalize and settle on a fitment
regarding the whole common work in that area thing regarding fender trimming, tire size, etc

Glad your ok. My other car is a GTI and are in my opinion a perfect car. They do many things very well. Be careful, these GTI's are fast. Mine is a 2017 that I bought new and is heavily modified to about 400hp now.

Oh there will be some mods all right
You can still hang around here, there's lots of members who don't have a Tacoma and stuck around (like moderators, they don't drive Tacomas)

Was the driver of the Range Rover listening to DMX when they hit you? X, once said one of his favorite past times was smoking crack and driving his Range thru NYC.

Glad you're okay, Greg. Lots of crazy drivers around here. I know Donald Ross Road well. I live in Greenacres.

I like the VW. It's "zippy", lol. You should be happy with it. As Tyler said, stick around. Either way, good luck :)

Please feel free to stick around and report in on/talk about the new wheels once in a while! Might be interesting to hear how it's going with a Tacoma/Truck to VW/Sedan swap. Big jump! Sorry to hear about your truck. Glad you're OK... Looks like a few seconds of timing difference could have meant the other vehicle would be hitting you squarely in the drivers door: not a good thing at any speed: never mind 40 mph!

Have fun in your new GTI ! Looks like it prob puts a smile on your face!

Note: Beware: you're going to get tickets driving that car: "Price of Admission"
    ;)
