I got a very good deal on my 2017 OR with financing, there was no early payoff penalty and I knew it ahead of time (dont ask the sales guys while you are negotiating!). I just said I was looking to finance and that made negotiating so much easier. I paid it off within the following month too.

There’s some fuckery going on there. With a 780 I financed my last two used cars at 2.09% (4 years and two years old at the time) with zero down and no early payoff penalty and paid both off well in advance. Don’t settle for their decent deals with shitty financing terms.

couldn't agree more. For some reason, OP, you are an asshat to them. Question is how bad do you want that truck?
I think I would just tell them, "I know I am looking for a specific truck, but I'll wait on better terms. thank you very much." I'll bet they call you the next day.

It very simple they are screwing you... inflated interest rate to increase their profit. plus, I don't think the selling price is all that good to begin with. I don't know what incentives TM is offering right now, but you should be able to find out. Don't be a fish, they tacked on a bunch of junk to increase their profit. If you search, I bet you can find this truck wherever it is at and make a deal with that dealer.

The price is not the issue. I feel as though the price is fantastic! I'm very happy with it. The problem is they wont let me finance it with my credit union at 2.49%. They say I have to go through SETF at 9% for a minimum of 6 months at which point I can pay off or refi. Thats just not going to happen. There has to be a loophole somewhere. I will just hold firm and watch them squirm. Kevin.

When we bought my wife’s CRV we went through Edmund’s online buying. We submitted what we wanted and a bunch of dealers gave us their best price. We went to the dealer with the lowest price and I asked them if would honor it and they said yes. I proceeded too write them a check and then they got pissed. In the end they took my check. The salesman told me I should finance the car and put the money in the stock market. I felt like telling him I didn’t need financial advice.

just remember SET/GST has their own financing arm that is independent of TFS and is owned by SET/GST regional. I don't even think TFS (Toyota financial services) are that bone headed.

They are not giving you anything for free, they know they can sell that truck as soon as it hits their lot,all you have too do is what I always do,finance from them so they will sell you the truck, then pay it off the next month.

My interest rate was 1.9% through SETF, maybe an incentive at the time? I also had them take off the extra I'd be paying from the 1.9% a month for 6 months till I could pay it off. Mine was a 2016 SR AC that had been sitting on the lot for a while though and they already had 2017s coming in.

Well, I just called SETF and asked them if there was a early payoff penalty. She wanted to know my state and said there was a 75.00 early termination fee under 6 months.! This is great news. So I called my credit union and they said "yes, we do that all the time". Refinance in 1 month back down to 2.49%. That way I can still get all the incentives. Thank for the input guys! Kevin.

    Get... all... in... writing...

Before signing anything! I'd make the dealer cover that $75, too.

Well, whats cool is, my credit union offers a 200.00 incentive to refinance!! All we have to do is wait for the title to be logged with the state of Florida and then my CU can pay-off the loan using the 200 incentive to pay the 75.00 penalty. I can even stretch my first payment out to 60 days so all this can be done before I make even 1 payment, so I may be able to even MAKE money on the deal!!!

To echo what others have said: Take the finance deal, make 1st payment on time(heck pay a whole bunch extra on the 1st payment to save a few $$ of interest) then pay it off in full when the 2nd payment is due. Fwiw, Ford(and probably others) do the same thing with LARGE discounts with good credit financing through Ford. On my F-150 I financed through ford @ 4.99%, got huge discounts, made 3 payments, and refinanced through USAA @ 1.99%. I waited 3 payments on the advice of my salesman, but in reality 1 month would have been fine according to the Ford credit people.

I am going to be putting a refundable deposit on a tacoma tonight. I am getting a good price but we have not spoken at all about my trade in or financing options, I guess I will have to ask now if that price is with the assumption that I will be financing with them.

According to SETF website, they are offering 1.9% on 36-48 months and 2.9% on 60-72 months. Dealer is full of crap. http://southeast.buyatoyota.com/tacoma/offers
