On rock Auto the denso filters, same as toyota oem, are 3$ ish each. I bout 10 just cause and I have friends that use the same filter. Use tacomaworld discount.

I agree with the others to drain and fill the trans fluid (and maybe the oil while you're at it), clear the codes and see how you fared. Good luck, keep us posted, and good on you for admitting the mistake and asking for help! I've done more than my fair share of dumb sh&t. This forum has helped me tremendously fix the issues and prevent other mistakes.

Appreciate it, I will post again when I change everything and see what happens. Yeah I am going to change oil again, new filter as well, just in case it caught anything from when the old one blew.

Denso aftermarket filters have slightly different construction than OEM. Should work OK though:

    toyota-denso-fram-4x6lo-jpg_8acc3f5e14b49007fa73c1b713b8338a92a6cb5c.jpg

There were some further changes when Denso moved filter production from Thailand (blue canister) to China (black canister). The bypass valve now has a coil spring instead of leaf spring, for example.

When I was a kid, I drained the transmission fluid instead of the engine oil on a Gen 1 Tundra. I scratched my head when the “engine oil” came out red. My Dad was happy to point out my error and lack of thought, haha. It was a lesson learned, and no damage happened to the truck.

Just do as others have said, OP, and return all fluids and the filter to their correct status, then go from there.

My Mom put DEF in her gas tank once. It was kinda late, and she didn't put a lot in. Apparently it's still a big deal.

Insurance covered it though. Wow lol

I’ll go with the rest, fill both to proper fluid levels and drive it.

If it makes you fell better, I did remove the wrong plug on a Nissan Altima once.
    Completely my fault.
But I’m going to add that I was FAT, the Jack didn’t go up nearly high enough, and it was really hot outside.

Luckily I caught it as soon as I seen the red fluid hit the pan.
Didn’t loose much, poured it back in the Trans and carried on.

Don't worry about the shift solenoid code just yet. Get the fluid levels correct and then see where you're at

Thought only the 4 cylinders had a dip stick.

The V6 has a dip stick also?

    The opposite of that would be to;

Never join TW if you get your feelings hurt easily.
Because opinions flow freely around here, and we like to give ours.

    Opinions here....Get your opinions here.

Seriously though, it is a good practice to ask first.
Because someone around here’s probably done it already.
And some of us (even me) have done in wrong.
Don’t make the mistake some if us do, ASK FIRST.
