IMG_0047.jpg After many years of planning, saving, and studying I finally pulled the trigger and started my shop. I decided on a 40x56. I didn't want a pole barn so poured wall foundation was in order. In my infinite quest to pay cash for everything I will say that the bills are truly killing me. It will all be better once I can use it I guess!

I helped my dad build a shop about 15 years ago. It was nice to have a place to do projects. Had a hydraulic lift and room for 6 cars. He died about 9 years ago, but those last several years were his heaven on earth. Having a shop is something most all of us wish we had.

You won't see this until it's up, but I put 50' wide trusses on a 40' building. I get a 10' overhang with no posts. I thought about a porch, but I didn't want posts to bounce the truck off of when backing in trailers.

    ....^^^... Very cool project.

Like poured foundation, framing looks great and good ideas on high ceilings and garage door. Cool front overhang too, good planning.

That's awesome, looks great! Just curious if you know how this style compare to an I-beam type construction price wise? Can't wait to see you fill this with toys

My family had a barn built at the house I grew up in and I always thought that was the best part of our house. Re-built my first motor in that barn, granted it was a motorcycle but still a daunting task for the little knowledge I had at the time, and when it was all tore apart I thought I'd never be able to get it back together again.

2x6 framed 16 on center. It end up with 8" walls. I am putting 8" of fiberglass in the walls and I plan on blowing in 18" above the ceiling. I do HVAC for a living, so I will have a furnace with air. Gas, water, and electric. It will take another year to pour the floor and line the interior.
