In this case it might be wiser pay out of pocket and save the deductible for a more substantial accident.

Pretty nice looking field dressing their soldier! That should hold you, but might want to take it easy on the skinny pedal going home.

Looks like the headlight tabs might be broken as well.

We use duct tape Down South for everything. Bumpers, broken legs, holes in roofs... everything.

But seriously, ouch! Show us the fix when you get it done.

Hopefully the repairs don’t cost too much

I spend a couple weekends each year in the Shawnee. Curious what trails you were on?

Your damage is more than mine, but I just zipped tied mine and it’s been fine. Eventually I might get around to putting a winch bumper on it.

This is the case with all our National Forest system roads. Congress has been slashing USFS budgets for over 20 years now. If you want better maintained roads on OUR public lands, your local congressman/woman should her about it.

    Dont feel bad
I have made way worse decisions than that on any given Tuesday. You will always remember it, and that you got yourself out of it too.
And you get super credit for posting it...

This past summer I ran directly into a tree in 1st gear 4lo because I was looking at the boulders to my left instead of the tree directly in front of me. I was surprised that the only damage I suffered was a broken zip tie.

Maybe a week after I bought it, I backed into a dolphin protecting a fire hydrant. They were below the tailgate when I started backing up, and they never taught me to watch tv while reversing...

So I learned. I ruined the chrome bumper cap. The step was dinged a bit, but I’ll get over it. Replaced the chrome with Matte black caps to match the fender flares and I was done. I like the look better.

I will watch tv while reversing from now on. I hope your repair is as painless as mine.

They are. That's what I meant by brackets. Sorry.

I remember the days of taking my daily driver off-roading and going through the same issues. Fun(ish) times. Lucky for you it looks like an aftermarket bumper can fix all.

Almost every single one I could find. They all get very messed up very quickly. Some aren't there anymore, some have trees growing in the middle, some are just private property now... Regardless of where they were, all high clearance roads are pretty much majorly effed after a few yards in. Turning around will be pretty much the norm, unless you want to mess your shit up. It might be different when it's dry, but right now only properly outfitted rigs should try those trails.

Here's the first one I found that actually scared me when I saw it because it had been so difficult to get to it, and by the time I realized there was no way I was going to clear 2-3 foot deep snaking streams ON the trail, I was almost out of room to turn around. That was a hairy situation, must've been a 58 point turn. That is the entrance and it's the best you'll get. After a few yards you will start questioning your decisions.20220307_1330042132640416761266546_large.jpg Screenshot_20220308-232836.jpg

honestly doesn’t look horrible! did a nice job patching it up on the trail.

doubling down on what everyone else said basically, use it as an opportunity to get an aftermarket bumper/grille and throw on some A/Ts.
next time you go out there you can fight the tree back :D

Got a pic of those caps on your rig? I've been wondering what they'd look like if I replaced the white caps on my white TRD OR.

No worries. I recognize the look. I broke my truck hitting a pole in a parking lot. At least your story is good unlike mine.
