This morning I finished installing the radiator, new belts, adding coolant, ATF, hooking everything up. Performed a final check. Then I disconnected the EFI relay and ran the starter for a few minutes to get the oil circulating for the startup.

When I reconnected the EFI relay, it started right up. No codes! I let it run for 5 minutes and then cool down. I will start increasing run cycles 5 to 10-minute increments. I need to get it out of the garage where we can breathe.

This is going to be a quiet baby. I'm so happy with the way it turned out.

I'll post a run video later this evening.

I topped off the AC refrigerant after it started. No need to jumpstart the compressor. These trucks have incredible air conditioners. I thought it was going to freeze me out. The AC was built for a 4Runner. With this small cab. It's just awesome. I got the AC refresh kit from RockAuto - UAC brand.

Tomorrow morning it goes back into the garage to get four new 5100s and OME 880 front springs.

When you fired it up and made sure that there were no leaks, did you let it run at around 2000 rpm for about 20 mins. to break the cams in to the lifters, or is that only for the old school push rod motors? You don't want to flatten a cam lobe on that new motor.
    Looks awesome! Great job!

No lifters. Just solid valve adjustment spacers. The motor was from a wrecked 98 model 4Runner in Florida with 70,000 miles on it. I went through it and replaced the rubber and plastic parts and seals that I knew would be eventually deteriorating. So the cams, lifters, and rings had already been mated during the 1st 70,000 miles.

OH, so it already had some miles on it.
I just remember the old school days when you fired up a brand new build you would have to run it and not let it idle for the first 20 minutes of its life and so that everything can seat in.

Just give Wheelers Offroad a call and let them know you are a member of Tacoma World for a discount. They will outfit you with exactly what you need that fits and works great. Roughly $600 -- depends on shipping and final details. Let Wheelers assemble the shock spring sets. No hassle with spring compressors and totally worth every penny.

Finished the Bilstein shock and OME 880 spring installation. I got just the amount of lift that I wanted. Here are some pictures with a before and after.

New ES end link bushings in Red. Somebody had just replaced the inner bushings before I bought it. So I left those alone.

At some point in the future, I will install new springs for the rear. I like it as it is right now.

After 500 or more miles I'd expect the springs to settle a little bit so it might level out
