Regarding Toyota Techstream and programming the keys, anyone have a link to a reputable seller for the cable and software, preferably on eBay?

I’ve searched and found hundreds, so there’s plenty of options, just want one that works.

I did buy one from TRD Shop.com, but the instructions said it can't be installed on MTs. I have no idea why.

Do you have a link to the Techstream cable/software? I’m not sure if they’re all the same.

I’ve searched and found a lot of options, just want to get something that works. I’ve already bought a $20 programmer that didn’t program.

Thanks I’ll get this one or similar.

It’s been a pain in the ass getting this done. Even getting the keys cut, some places couldn’t and wouldn’t do it, finally found an Ace hardware to cut the key. It’s just a regular key with the fob on top.

There are 3 ways to arm the alarm. First if press lock on the door switch with the door open, then shut the door. Security light should come on solid and after ~ 30 seconds it will be armed. The second is locking it with the factory fob and waiting ~ 30 seconds. The security light will do the same thing. 3rd is turn the key in the cylinder to the lock position. This should arm the alarm, can’t remember if it need to be opened doing so or not. Turning the key in the door cylinder to unlock the door will disarm the alarm.

To test the alarm simply arm it and wait until the security light is flashing every few seconds. Then reach in with the window down and open the door from the inside.

Chinese programmers never work. You need an expensive programmer or a techstream. As people already mentioned, you can buy a dongle and purchase the techstream software for a few days. That’s your best bet.

Yeah getting them cut was the hard part. I finally went to a locksmith who cut them for $2 a piece.

I tried home depot before that and they destroyed one. Luckily I found replacement key fobs with no electronics for $5 on ebay.
