Well for the last few months my factory stereo in my 2020 TRD offroad seems to be as flaky as a Hollywood marriage. Sometimes it is good (Ozzy), sometimes it is bad (anything Kardashian). The stereo works, however the screen generally does not work. But the screen can work, when it is in the mood! Even when the screen is not working you might be able to back that sucker into the right location with the back up camera. However there are other days the screen works and the camera does not work, so you back it in old school using the dry fit method hoping there is no ICE agent hiding behind you waiting to jump out and get run over, or take you out of your vehicle because your taco looks to much like Texas chili with beans.

All joking a side, I am looking to replace the factory stereo with something that works as factory or better. I typically don't like the touch factory stereo and install non factory stereo or car starters as I have found everything goes sideways on the electrical side of things long term. This maybe my age speaking as I remember touching electrical on your vehicle meant death to the vehicle and you better sell it before someone notices there is an electrical gremlin. However Toyota in their please come in and pay $200 for a maybe we can figure it out before we charge you $2000 for a knew one mod, I decided it maybe it is time to break down and replace it with a non factory and not $2000 bend me over with no lube Toyota stereo purchase. Car play and Android will be a requirement assuming you can even buy something that is not these days stereo. Also will want to be able to still use the Toyota app for 3-4 month a year to start the dam thing when it is cold as Toyota wants my money over having fob that came with the taco to work further away then your vehicle door handle.

Way longer a message then planned. Anyone have a good long term solutions for a stereo replacement?

I don't have a solution now, other than try to find a pull-out for a few hundred bucks on eBay or Marketplace. The long term solution with the best result would be when iDatalink finally releases dash kits for Toyota so we can install the Kenwood Direct Replacement line of stereos. It has been said they will be available "later this year" when all this stuff was announced like six months ago, so far I haven't seen any kind of update. I just hope they've gotten around to it by the time I'm in your situation.

Appreciate the reply. I have been looking on ebay and I will continue. Just frustrating.
