Picked up the touch-up paint from the dealership today (great price for OEM paint at $9.99 for a 1/2 ounce paint pen/brush combo pack. Worked great on covering the chips, the paintless dent remover guy is supposed to be in my area mid-week and he is to come by my place of employment and remove the dent for around $50 I was told.

Its cool man, I live in TEXAS, no where near the coast and have numerous little surface rust spots along the paint. Terrible paint quality. I guess its just one of those trade offs.

It's been mentioned before, but the paint on these trucks sucks big time. I've had my truck for two winters, and each year I get (minimum) half a dozen chips in the hood due to the gravel I encounter on the voyage home for Christmas. There's even two on my roof. All you can do is touch it up so it doesn't rust. I did the same trip for five years in a row with my old car, and not a single chip.

One of my "friends" wrote Wash Me with his stubby, grimy finger on the tailgate of my Black truck when it was really dirty (with only 1500 miles on the truck). You know how black paint shows up EVERY mark when it's in the sun? We'll, now when I wash the truck I can see the Wash Me on the freekin' tailgate!! Makes me want to cry every time. :(

7000 miles and 2 big chips that are rusted from the winter I found while waxing today. One is on the edge of sheet metal corner under the light and I may have to remove the light to sand it. :frusty: The other is behind the drivers window and about half the size of a dime clean to the metal and nice and rusty. :)

I can now actually see how thin this paint is....terrible. Time to buy a few sanding bricks and some painters tape.

Speedway Blue paint is apparently as durable as the candy coating on M&M's.

The paint is not all that great on these. But if you keep it freshly waxed often, it really helps A LOT!

It's isn't the how it looks that bothers me as much as the hassle to deal with it more frequently. I can deal and expect to with touch up marks all over the place. This chip is as big as an M&M and rusty now so it must have been a pretty big stone. I guess I know now to look more often.
