After 14 months of owning a Tacoma DC LB TRD OFFRD I decided to sell it and get a Tundra. Overall the Tacoma was a great truck but it really didn't fit my needs. Tune after tune it did drive better. Mileage was horrible compared to the 17MPG I'm getting with the Tundra. It was also too small for what I do, wife was really never happy riding in it cause she wasn't comfortable. The Tundra fits all my needs and the wife loves riding in it, I can't believe all leg room and how big the back seats are! Tacoma World Forum has been a great place to learn, get ideas, a place full of knowledge, wealth and great people! I will have some things for sale from the Tacoma now since I never installed them. MESO Pro Shift Knob, Chrome Delete kits and few other items that I will put up for sale. Again thank you, you guys have been amazing and awesome!

How bad of mileage were you getting with the Taco for 17MGP to be an improvement? I drive my truck hard and get 20MPG in the summer and 16MPG in the winter (Thanks to warming it up). Did you get a 3rd gen Tundra? I wouldn't mind taking one for a spin.

Holy mackerel that is some abysmal MPG. is that normal for 60/40 city driving? I don't think I've ever dipped under 20 mpg in my 2.4 5 lug, granted it's a puny 4 cyl.

Yeah it is, was really disappointed with the mpg. I really thought it would do better than that too. I don't drive hard and as you can see all I have is a canopy and running 285/75 R17 Toyo Open Country MTs.

I see. It looks like you'll have zero regrets moving up to the Tundra. You probably got a great deal selling your Tacoma in the current market that you really didn't lose anything trading up. All the best, hope the Tundra stays reliable for you!

To be fair those are some big tires on a Taco. Can't complain about fuel economy at that point lol.

Yeah I have to admit I was pretty frustrated driving on the highway on Sunday getting 12mpg and it wouldn't shift up from 4th gear. Slight headwind. 70mph...

Congrats. We have both at our house and I only like the tundra better when we're fully loaded with kids and gear. Other than that, I'll drive the tacoma all day, every day

Biggest issue is size. For one example I live in a townhouse and my tires touch both lines for my stall. Another would be that the trails I use are breaking my mirrors. Yet another is parking structures. It doesn't fit in the lower ones.
I am also not a fan of automatic transmissions. Not trying to get into auto vs manual. Just my preference.
MPG is not a big deal, but it doesn't help the "keep the tundra" argument.
Little things add up and take away from the enjoyment.
