2 engine replacements about 60k miles ago.

cause of the initial engine failure was vapor lock blowing out a cylinder of the block (cracking the aluminum block). Power train warranty ended at 60k miles, failure happened at 65k Toyota did not cover. Luckily I had extended warranty bullshit…

engine 1 had 55k miles and a cracked casing and the other had 20k miles and didn’t leak.

Man, i think its time for you to sell that truck. 2 engine replacement is too much, ive never heard of any Taco having this many issues. tf are you doing with it, hauling bunch of fat chicks all day?

Toyota corporate might want to look into this, to see who put hoax on it

nah bro, this is the third engine… at 135k miles. Apparently I just have bad luck and picked a bad truck.. the only thing I do differently from normal Tacoma drivers is actually driving on dirt roads. They did just pay $7500 to repaint the parts they agreed to repaint due to the paint falling off. So that was cool other than the inconvenience of getting it done.

the second engine got installed was determined to be damaged in shipping, then removed and had to wait for the third.

I would dump the truck if i were you, 3 engines is insane. How much did they cost? the 2 you paid for. You need to report it to Toyota, to see what was the cause

You either had it done with shtty mechanics, or truck really is cursed lol. I know a mechanic you can take it to if you want, he is in Chicago area but he is Toyota specialist, you prob know him, the AMD guy. Car care nut youtube.

To clarify the engine that had this failure had about 110k miles on it.

For the previous shit.. Luckily I had extended warranty that covered it. North Park Toyota in San Antonio is the shop that did the motor swap. Thanks but Chicago is pretty far.

Looks like the front of the water pump broke off? I wonder if the belt tensioner is seized and putting too much strain on the drive belt system

Agree, but was unfortunate.. failure occurred when I went to pass a car on a two lane road, heard a pop and saw smoke then pulled over.

my fan was completely destroyed and looks like oil all over the engine compartment.

i think youve won the award for biggest lemon of a tacoma. complete engine failures are extremely uncommon for these and you went well beyond.

Seen something similar. Fan bracket broke on a GX460. The culprit was a bad fan clutch.
