    Not enough...
    Glad everyone is ok!

This is the thing about fucking kids... They think the lies they tell are the most original lies in the history of lies and no one would be able to call them out on their shit. I keep telling my kid "Look dude, I was your age before... And I told the same damn lies to my parents... word to word, so i KNOW when you are lying to me..." And the little bastard looks me in the eye and swears that he is telling the truth. lol. Cops and insurance company will know exactly how fast he was going, no matter what this kid and his mom tell them

Glad everyone is ok. You can get a new truck.
And let's not judge the other driver yet. There are no facts. And maybe he was shook up and scared is why he sat in his vehicle.
Also, losing your temper and assaulting the other driver "landing you in jail", may sound all tough guy and all...but it would have been the worse thing to do for your child.
Let's just thank God he wasn't with you. And again, that no one was hurt.
    Good luck.

Wow glad you didn't get hurt, there's a lot of damage for a slow speed impact.

Not judging at all, he wasnt scared he was laughing and cutting up with his friend in the passenger seat.. he thought it was funny and even told his mom that he wasnt speeding when it happened.. even she said "look at his truck and you want to tell me you werent speeding"..and i agree with it being a bad decision if i had assaulted the other driver, and im far from a tough guy haha... but i also dont know what i would have done because i havent been in that situation before, but i have lost my temper when a family member or friend is hurt from someones ignorance or stupidity, and it being my son would have 10 folded that feeling

    Ok
Sounds like the guy was a real douche. And believe me, I understand your feelings about your son. Thankfully, it didn't come to that. Give the boy an extra hug and count your blessing.

Start now gathering all your supporting paperwork as to the value of your truck plus all mods. If you have receipts for mods all the better. Do your homework as to the REPLACEMENT cost of a vehicle similar to yours as far as condition and mileage with printouts of vehicles to show how you came up with the value. As stated above this will also include the title tax and other fees to register the replacement vehicle. Once you know the value then stick to that and let them know what you expect and nothing less. Be respectful and up front with them. If you are getting hard-balled then ask for the next person up the line. It is the insurance companys job to pay out as little as possible and your job to be made whole.

That's some serious impact damage. As someone who handled a few "accident investigations" in law enforcement I can tell you with certainty the police can determine a fairly good estimate as to this kid's speed. Skid marks can be measured and such (assuming he ever hit brakes). And even anti-lock brakes do indeed leave marks on the pavement if you pay close attention.

The fact that this kid was laughing about it suggests to me he didn't learn a damn thing. Unless his mother removes his insurance, driving privileges, and leave it up to the kid to come up with his own car, his own insurance, nothing is likely to change.

As a father with a 4, 6, and 8 yo I think about incidents like this a lot. My 4 year old still sits in car seat as she's small. Side impacts have to be the worst. So little material between the kid's body and the incoming vehicle. I can totally understand your conundrum in wondering how you'd handle it if your 4 month old had been in your truck.

Thank God you are okay, that your child wasn't present, and that this young man wasn't injured either. Let's just hope someone makes him learn something from this. These collisions don't happen unless someone did something wrong.

Glad you are OK. Keep hammering the insurance to get the rightful value. I was totaled and was able up the offer 3 times before I was satisfied. The tip to get tax included that one of the other members suggested is a good one.
