personally, i do not think it will happen. why? i bought a brand new honda generator. that's why.

if they do go out, i will be able to run my fridge and charge things. i'm good to go. i do need to fill a gas can. i "think" that Renner Pretroleum gas station in Cloverdale carries non ethanol fuel.

you all know of any other places? a specialty gallon of small engine fuel from the hardware stores cost $20. the Stihl version premixed is $34!!

i do have one gallon of the stuff. i could hit up sonoma raceway i suppose.

I used https://www.pure-gas.org/ to find the nearest place to me that carried non-ethanol. Just click on your state at the bottom of the page. Good luck

    which one did you get?

I remember when I first was looking out for generators and was drooling over all the 3kw units but got a 1800/2000w unit instead.

Ultimately, the one I use the most is the 800w sportsman unit I picked up for 200 bucks. Runs my fridge, or runs my furnace, and a few lights.

Make sure you are all running intervened or clean power generators if you are plugging in technology, like a TV, phone charger, laptop, etc.

Some of the local hams around here like to use the lowest end aviation gasoline in their generators. Long shelf life, no ethanol.

yea. i considered AV-gas. not sure how i can get some from our local airport.

i also have Sonoma Raceway..but that's too close to Hwy 37 for my liking. maybe if i am coincidentally driving by, but i wouldn't make a special trip.

    That actually doesn't matter.

Modern switched mode power supplies take care of all that because they convert the AC to DC via pwm. You can spend your time hand cranking an artisanal sinewave and it won't make your tv last any longer than with a garbage non-inverter genny from harborfreight.

I think a lot of the issues could simply be avoided by emptying the bowl before storage. I do that w/ one of my generators, and it uses 10% eth. same fuel for the past 8 years.

Is there a marina nearby? They should have non-ethanol fuel.

I mean, I sell generators at my work. So if that’s true what we are being told is incorrect.

Hey dood, marketing sells man. If it's gonna put food on the table, I'll you my mom can only take pure sine wave.

If it's gonna put lines down, I'll tell you I'm gay to make that sale.

I just got my Westinghouse Igen 4500 Dual Fuel today. I also picked up a 20 and 40 Lb propane tank.

Inverter because it is quieter (wont piss off the neighbors sitting in the dark) Propane because it can sit for a long time without going bad.
Remote start (wife won't have to repeatedly pull a starter cable). Auto switch between gas and propane without shutting off. You can
run it on gas long enough to switch out propane tanks without having to restart or damage anything hooked up to it.

Eventually I will connect it to a switch panel on the house but for now I got a RV extension cable and a RV to 2 - 20 amp outlet adapter.

I added oil and connected the battery. Then I took the BBQ half filled tank, connected it and it started right away.

    fantastic replies.

i spent the night working. we put up generators at all the intersections we could to keep them operational. the State bought 30 honda 3000 generators. not the quiet kind. all are running awesome. i did go to visit one intersection. Farmers Ln and 12 in Santa rosa. i found the cabinet, and it was being powered by the new Honda 3000 Handi. i looked around and saw nobody. i know that thing has a small gas tank and only runs for 4.5 hours.

what blew me away was how quiet it was. my WaterPik is louder!! it just purrs..no it HUMS! it is quieter than my new Honda 2200. too bad it cost $2500. i'm not THAT scared of the dark.

I live up highway 50 near Placerville. My house went dark at 2:00 PM yesterday afternoon. Most of Placerville still had power last night, as do the areas at the far western end of El Dorado County. For now.....

I ordered a Westinghouse 7.5kW genny on Monday, knowing it wouldn't arrive in time for this outage, but now that they have established their total ownership of us, they will certainly have numerous outages in the upcoming months/years.....

No, you can still run gas (it’ll be duel fuel) although I plan on never running gas thru mine.
