    Update: verbatim from the dealer:

we need to replace the rear axles and bearings to correct the vibration which is caused by excessive clearance between the brake drum and axle drum flange. The parts are scheduled to arrive tomorrow and we should have it ready for pick up by the end of the day tomorrow.

    How pronounced is this shudder?
Mine has a slight vibration feel while coasting down from 50 to 20 ish. It seems a bit stronger while braking gently. Haven't paid attention with harder braking.

I wouldn't call it anywhere near edge of the road rumble strip, more like running over thin test paint stripes.
It is pretty even and consistent, not come-and-go.

Mine pretty much occurred since day 1, I just thought it was “normal”. I have 5,000 miles on it now. @myaccountname mine too is rather subtle and like you describe - but definitely not right. I’d bring it in and mention you did research and reference potential axle and/or drum warp. If the dealer is worth their salt, they’ll fix it.

I have no idea if this is related or not, but some times on deceleration it feels as though there is a hard bump from the rear, not sure if this is a hard down shift or axle warp. But, this issue comes and goes, and mostly is around, if its around, when its cold out.

I had the same issue and took my truck into the dealership. After ordering 2 new rear axles and also taking an axle off of a new Tacoma that was on the lot and trying all of them on my truck, they realized that none of those axles fit without that gap. Eventually, they realized that it wasn't the rear axle, it was the drums. Once they replaced the drums, the truck braked like butter and has ever since. I've put ~200miles since the repair and the problem hasn't re-presented itself.

Update: Picked up the truck and deceleration/brake shudder appears to be gone, or at least significantly reduced. My work order says T-SB-0023-19 was applied, which either is a typo, or fairly new and a follow up to T-SB-0023-18 Rev 1.
