Dont be embarrassed, shit happens. and experience is the only way to avoid it. Lets see the video. You'll get advice and maybe help other know what to avoid.

It looks like mybe you just found a hole perfectly sized to pin your truck. Don’t feel to bad about that. As you get to know the truck you’ll be much less likely to do that. Once it’s pinned your kind of hosed. A high lift and some rocks might help.

I am no expert but mud is bad. As is deep snow. Or not so deep snow.

No expert at wheeling but those tires look slick, I've got the stock tires, Goodrich 265/70R16 Rugged Trail however they are admittedly a little more aggressive. Decent set of tires and that truck will go anywhere 3 of the 4 tires can reach the ground. I'll be switching to 285/75/16 Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx. I'd looked at the STT Pro but was concerned about packed snow and rain as it's also a daily for me.

Yep when I got stuck the rear hitch was dug into the mud pretty good, I couldn't even see it.

Yeah... I didn't even think at all to adjust the tires... When I take my toy car to the track, I always air down the rear tires a bit to get traction, funny I didn't think about tire pressure...

I probably do need better strategy... This was first time ever going offroad anywhere.

Fake sliders, but I definitely did see the need for real sliders because they hit quite a bit of ground/rocks.

4lo, locker, atrac (Have manual so no crawl control) were on. No dice.

Thats what park patrol was telling me and what I was thinking. It just look like the truck was the perfect size for that particular ditch....

From that last image it looks like your drivers side rear was spinning (notice how it's clean and the others are muddy). As someone else noted, it looks like you got caught up on your hitch, so that wheel wasn't able to make contact. I'd think about a small shovel so I could dig myself out of something like that, as well as the new tires.

All good man. When I was sixteen I took my 1988 Nissan Pathfinder to the dunes in Pismo and never aired down. I got stuck in a bowl and only then realized airing down would have prevented it. A bigger slap in the face was a 2wd Tacoma pulling me out. Learned my lesson back then and haven't forgotten it since!

Couple things I see from the pics but I wasn’t there so could be off.

That’s not the line I would have taken.
Passenger side would have been out of that mud hole. With the locker on.
If it is deeper than I can tell then more momentum throug the mud hole, you gotta commit.
And as already stated tires. If you are going to play in the mud often you need better tires for that.
You can still play in the mud occasionally with stock tires but you need to think about your line/speed and when to say maybe that’s to much.
    Go back and conquer it!

Another thing I got to mention, can't see in pictures but the skid plate was dug into the ground pretty good. Not sure if that helped prevent damage but hurt the ability to get out of there at the same time...

I'll upload the video. Its like 20 minutes of me going through a water creek and that part is where I was exiting the creek to get out of that part of the park..

Nothing beats experience, but a good first investment is maxxtraxx or similar traction boards and a shovel. Those will cover you a long way.

Highway tires and bad line choice.

Your next mod should be a good set of all terrain tires.

Also don’t wheel alone. Bring a friend so anything happens he’s there to help out.

Your next upgrade has to be between your ears lol. Experience is always the best upgrade.
Remember, off roading is 90% driver, 10% vehicle. A great driver can take a shit vehicle a lot further than a shit driver can take a great vehicle.

Should have just hit it at an angle instead of head on.

If you did pin between the front skid and hitch. Airing down wouldn’t really help. There are some things to reduce that from happening, but mud can be tricky. When I was a kid my friend got his Toyota 4x4 locked front and rear with 38’s stuck on a flat mud spot. It wasn’t even resting on the frame. The ground just has a top layer with roots and just solid mud underneath. It dug holes and couldn’t for anything climb out. We had to tow it.

You need a friend to go out with you. Another truck and a snatch strap and you would be right out with no issue.

But other than that, tires would be most beneficial

He has a m/t, no crawl on it. Looks like not only hung up on the rear bumper, those small logs will be impossible to get over unless you placed them there. Wrong approach. Gotta get stuck to gain experience. Good you went for it.
