As I said in my original post I was dead set against body lifts for years. Yes a 3" body lift looks dumb and serves no purpose. However, a 1" body lift is not going to look horrible and is going to be a nice addition to adding 35's. Function over form, keep the center of gravity as low as possible while having maximum clearance.

Its not a look thing....its a safety thing. Have you ever seen a body lifted truck that got hit so hard, the body sheared clean off the frame? I have. They are dangerous....just sayin'
And its "function over form" Not forum. But, hey, Good Luck!

It's pretty dangerous to even get hit hard.

Thanks for the grammar tip, it has been corrected.

Also, I'll try my best not to get hit that hard.

The new bolts are usually LONGER, not thicker.

Opt in for the 4Crawler HD bolts and you get Grade 8...

If someone is getting hit so hard that the body shears off the frame, it's probably going to rip through the sheet metal if the bolt holds...

After 40 years in the body shop industry, I totally disagree with you. But do what you want.

Do you have experience with the 4crawler off road kit? Grade 8 bolts are stronger than stock.

I agree with you that body lifts CAN be dangerous. I've seen guys use mix matched bolts and hockey pucks, hell I've even seen blocks of wood used. Based on your experience I would bet you have seen 3"+ body lifts that were likely homemade.

no one is advocating going up 3". That does seem spindly. 1" is fine. 3/4 sounds even better. But really lifting in any way is going out of factory prescribed 'safety'.

I used the grade 8 hd bolt kit. You need to run a 1/2" drill bit down thru the mounts to get them to fit.0419171738.jpg

Ktaco, was just on 4crawlers website a couple days ago, I am interested in your parts list and how install went. I am running a 3" OME on my taco and would like to add a 1" BL to it. Let me know how things go and some pics would be great.

I installed it yesterday. My order was as follows. D+HD+FB+SE+BS+RB. That's D kit, grade 8 hardware, front bumper bracket, steering extension, bed spacers, and rear bumper relocate.

I haven't installed the bed spacers yet but that's a 10min job. I also haven't done the rear bumper yet. On that note, I wouldn't have bothered with the RB option if I had read more into it before hand. When I first opened the package I thought the rear bumper kit was missing but as I looked more into it they just provide 4 nuts. You have to drill new holes in your bumper mount, reuse the bolts and than you use the new 4 nuts provided. It's only a $5 option but I could have used nuts I had home or sourced them locally.

As for the lift itself it's straight forward to install. I ran into a issue with a nut stripping in the box. That involved cutting the cross member out on the box to access the nut. Pain in the ass but no fault of the lift. One thing I did run into with the contents provided was 2 of the cab bolts were too short. They send you 6 cab bolts. 2 long, 2 medium, 2 short. Short went in the back mounts, long in the front. Both them only have about 1/4" of threads showing past the nut. That left me with the medium length bolts for the middle mounts. I could just barley thread the nut on, they are about 1" too short. They should provide you with 4 long bolts and 2 short. I used the stock long bolts instead in those 2 mounts juat to get me by but I'll pick up some longer grade 8 ones tomorrow. I did NOT have to drill my mounts. The grade 8 bolts fit in just fine.

Other than that the truck looks good now. It looks more like the height it "should" with the 33s on it. Time will tell how it will accomodate the future 35s. I would post before and after pics but photobucket recently went crazy with wanting people to pay.

Just did some minor things this morning like installing the bed spacers and checking all the brake lines. The rad does not have to be relocated, there's a plastic shroud that just unclips from the bottom of the fan. With that removed there is enough clearance. The fuel hoes doesn't HAVE to be adjusted but I did this morning just to get it up a little higher. I just made my own relocation bracket to raise it 1''. Other than that the rubber splash guards located in the inner front wheel wells have to either be removed or attached in other existing holes or new holes you drill.

I did my whole order threw PayPal. I emailed before hand to clarify a few things about the lift and to confirm the price. In the comments to seller section on Paypal you just put your truck description and what lift components you want using the letter system I posted above and on the site.
