    I agree with you

However my friends think I am crazy that I buy cars from New York or Seattle to save money

Lot of people like the convinience of buying local

When I ordered my 2002 Mini Cooper s, if you bought on lot you payed $5000 extra

If you ordered and waited it was Msrp

Tons of people here in la biight off lot since hey don't want to wait or go out of state

Dealers know this and they take advantage

    Free market system

100% agree and understand. I am as guilty of paying for conveinence and service over savings as the next guy. Heck... I live in SC and my family has annual passes to Disney World. Carowinds Amusement Park is 15 minutes from my house... we've never been. lol

I would bet there are a lot of buyers who think they can't go to another state to buy a car or might even miss the fact they are paying so much more. I was shocked when that photo of the sticker with the extra $5000 was posted. I honestly assumed the dealers were hiding markups with "fees" or overpriced add ons. I guess you can call that dealer a thief... but not a liar! :amen:

Dealers have the "market adjustment" here in LA on lots of cars. I see it when a new M3/M5 hit the lot.

The M6 GranCoupe my business partner bought, had a 10K markup. He negotiated it down to 8K markup

I told him to buy out of state, he didn't want to deal with paying taxes/dmv (neither you have to do, all you have do is smog an out of state vehicle and go to DMV for VIN verification).

You should see the "market adjustment" of a GT3RS. Last I saw it was over 100K over sticker.

Born/raised in Los Angeles. Never been to Disney.

Wow... thats some crazy markup. Thats whats so great about the internet... you can gather so much info with so little effort.

Disney is crazy good. Talking with the wife about a trip to Cali next summer just to do Disneyland and see some sights. Furthest west I have ever been is Arizona. I want to take my 7 year old out there so she can experience it... and understand why we live in the south! lol

Bought mine in South Carolina. I got Invoice prices from Florence Toyota on what I wanted. I decided to go local to Sparks and pay $500 more. Seems SC has good prices. Probably because everything is cheaper here and the cost of living is so low. Dealers cannot expect to draw the money from millions of people like the west and NE. We just don't have the population or the incomes of those in SoCal or the NE.

No fool here retiring and moving from out west to South Carolina nine years ago, Just the RE sales alone were enough to retire....But I worked Part time to do something for about six years,

I'm always shocked at the price of things in some of the "high dollar areas" of the country. I was planning to retire in Ohio and then move south. The wife and I couldn't wait though and decided to just suck it up and move south 5 years ago. I took a pay cut, she got a small pay increase, we downsized our home a bit (still got a basement which is unheard of down here). It worked out. My daughter doesn't remember living in Ohio (she was 18 months old when we moved) so someday I will have to sit her down and explain that she is a "damn yankee". Hopefully she stays put and her kids will be our families first generation of "real southerners" in several generations.

Selling out in 2007 and moving east was one of the best moves we made. We built a smaller home and invested the rest in 09, Timing was good. I love the SE now. Living in Myrtle beach reminds me a tad of San Diego in the early 70's before it became a suburb of LA. People were paying stupid money for homes in 07. We saw that and used the opportunity to get out of Dodge.

We looked at "welfare states" because we knew the same money would go a longer way. Arkansas, New Mexico and South Carolina were last on the list. At the end of the day we wanted to live near the beach like we had out west. SC has very cheap property tax ($673 a year) So except for the Sun being backwards, it was a good move...( still have not been up early enough to see a sunrise LOL.

Now if only Nyers would stop in NC or pass through to Florida...........SC is the best kept secret in the country. Born and raised in NJ so I know what people pay the gov to "rent" their land..... $12,000 a year in property taxes is not unusual for a middle class home in Clifton NJ

Im here in Mount Pleasant. What dealer did you use for your 2016. The first thing both dealers said here was they could not keep the 2016s on the lot, yet they each had more than 10. They want too much $$$$ here.

Received Invoice pricing from Florence Toyota, Took it to my dealer (Sparks Toyota) and offered $500 more for them to get the truck.

They found the exact truck I wanted going to a dealer in NC and snagged it. But that was back in the days where no one had any trucks and they had not hit the streets yet.and were a month away. So they took guaranteed deals

Now that dealers are selling them as fast as they get in there is no incentive to discount. They are not trading them as much either,

I bought a Tacoma from Anderson's down there...08 used. But they told me they would not be discounting the 16 Tacoma, City dealers are not budging. Try Florence Toyota, Thomas Roman is the guy up there,

I went to buy a 2016 Tacoma and left Tacoma

This was the only picture I took. Drove 3 hours in traffic and then 2 hours of paper work and waiting. Then 2 hours home.

    That's right, DCLBOR4X4FTMFW

Ah, misread. I saw "I went to buy a 2016 Tacoma and left Tacoma" and thought he was saying he didn't buy it.

Congrats on the truck Z750king. Any plans for mods and accessories?

That's a much better payment though. Not a terrible choice by any means.

Mind sharing details of the truck and the final deal? Does your model have the crawl control? Any tech? Again, congrats on the purchase (for what it's worth). I am always bittersweet over vehicle purchases myself. On one hand it's fun getting a new vehicle. On the other hand... Car payments.

Yes, Off Road 4x4 V6. It has all of the OR features because it's the 4x4. It only has tow package and carpet mats, no premium tech or jbl. We didn't want to waste 3000 dollars on radio and paint.

I hope you are sitting down..... We paid 39000 out the door. truck was only 35788 but CA taxes and fees add up quickly! But it's been sunny for a week so we have that
