Didn't really read all of the previous posts but obviously I wouldn't lease a Tacoma for that much.
    I'm not an idiot.
And realistically I am even on my trade in vs payoff.

Also with that logic you're saying you should never buy a house.

cause a 20 year mortgage is just like a vehicle loan/lease:crazy:
My home is paid for, BTW. I dropped out of school and started working when I was 12 washing dishes getting paid cash(for legal issues)and saved my money and continued working my ass off until I could afford to buy my things. I might be stupid and can't do math or understand financing, but unlike the people living in the cookie cutter subdivision in my town, when a storm comes and blows my shingles off, I'm not so far in debt with my big overpriced house and driveway full of newly financed cars that I have to put a trap on my roof for months on end because I cannot afford the deductible on insurance.
    Why is the sky blue?

Well no kidding. That isn't what I said.

I have not found that having good credit or paying cash makes a dealer any more willing to negotiate with you on price. Especially with a 16'.

Regarding paying cash or financing...we live in interesting times. It's essentially free to borrow money if your credit is good. It does make some sense to pay cash for a vehicle, but with interest rates where they're at it makes more sense to put a minimum down and invest (or just hold on to) the freed-up cash.
Bought a house last year and did the same thing. Interest was 3.5%, with the tax deduction it's effectively 2.33%. Put as little down as I could.

I'm not seeing mark ups over MSRP in Vermont but dealers are not budging. My "friend & family" discount was $600 off MSRP & a low ball trade. So much for holding value plus there's a ton of used tacomas. I would sell it outright.
As suggested I'd hop a flight if I really needed a new truck. I do not. Where I live in the northeast i.e. northern New England, the inventory is small & it flies off the lot or everything is marked "swap". The dealers here have the upper hand so I'll wait a couple of years or maybe forever. Run my 2013 into the ground like I did my 95. Also my credit is excellent & have cash. Always financed at low rate & pay off quick. Rather have my free cash for investments that actually turn a profit. Trucks & toys never have done that for me.

This is an old thread I know... But this statement is hilarious. I have to read on to see if you ever understood the way the 0% loans work. lol

lol, we had ALL of the extended warranty paper work costs all written in sharpie!!! Anything we we were unsure
of, he quickly grabbed his little marker and slashed the price almost in 1/2 and said "how about now?" :D

The bait tactics that some of them use are laughable trying to prey on the emotions of a new vehicle purchase.

Our issue was the extended warranties. After you leave they straight out refuse to give you
details on what the prices where and how each is covered and for what length of time. No one
is going to sit there and write down 2 pages of documentation, you expect, like the contract, you'd
be handed a copy of what you just spent 3 grand on to be handed to you with all other paperwork.

The more people I speak with and the more I have to deal with them just confirms that
we never do business with them again.
