Had a family reunion in Ga the past week. Great place, but I went up with my brother in his civic(37 MPG). It almost killed me because when I was there I found so many places where I could lock in the hubs and have some fun. The people in Georgia are some of the nicest people I have ever met. On the way home we(my brother, my dog and I ) went through Atlanta to I-75. We were in some big traffic and almost got side swiped by a Chevy stepside truck, so my bro being a good driver swerved to miss the collision, next thing I know we are being pulled over by GA Highyay Patroll...!! The cop came up on the pass side where I was seated and asked for my brothers I.D and Info, which he gave to him, he was a bit nervous and was actually shaking, the cop took this as a sign we were up to no good and did a field sobriety test on him, which he passed, then he asked me to step out of the car, at this ime I said no problem but before I do I want to let you know in my backpack located on the floor in front of me I have a loaded 9mm and extra mags in my bag. He said thanks for being honest, asked me if he could reach in and remove my bag from the floorboard, I said yes sir. At this point the second officer had arived had my brother behind the car I asked if I could remove my wallet and give my ID and concelled permit to the first officer, he said yes, the first officer had already unchambered the round from my pistol, placed all three mags on the hood and "escorted" me to the rear of the car.Next he wants to search the car, my step dog was going nuts by this time and he asked me to secure my dog on a leash so he could search the vehicle, which I did. What did he find in the car...remember we had just left rural Georgia, a bag full of Farmers Market fresh herbs, Basil, Parsley, some othe green herbs that my brother likes to cook with...my brother was sweating...I wanted a cigarette, my dog was barking I thought we were going to jail. After about ten minutes, a car search, my weapons permit being called in, they shook our hands, said thanks for being honest, and told me not to chamer a round in my pistol till they were down the road out of sight. I got to give it to those officers, they were pro's. Didn't harass me for the gun, said my step dog was a nice little guy said have a nice day and sent us on our way. In the 15 plus years of having a weapons permit this was the first time I had been involved with law enforcement, I thought it would be bad, but he said I did the correct thing, didn't move my hands from the car 10 and 6 position on the dash and let him make the decisions on how to handle the situation(like I was trained to do in such a case), in the end I'm going back to GA, with my truck, and dog and gun. Just a long story about a short part in my vacation, thanks for listening. Kevin
