Going ahead with my purchase in the next couple months so I was narrowing down exactly what I want and getting a close look. But while I was there I was amazed at the shift towards electric and hybrid power trains. Some really impressive stuff happening. This will likely be my last new ICE vehicle ever and I think the writing is on the wall.

That's not saying much when you can assume that a Tacoma will last you 20 years. I'm also not sure that anything can save us.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
Yeah, the writing that reads "if you want a good vehicle you will need to spend the cash to frame-off restore an older model that has a real engine and will work reliably".

I'll be dead in 25-35 years, so no care. I can die happy knowing I lived in a time when the shit was the best.

Hybrids and BEVs are just a temporary band aid. Our current lifestyles as a whole are not sustainable over the next 100 years

Can you post any pictures? The Auto Show is not coming to my area until the end of February.

Literally just posted this in another thread:

I'll have no problem with all-electric motors once some very important things happen:

    1. Range is extended. And I don't mean like how a Tesla car can go 300+ miles on a charge. I'm talking about getting 300-400 miles in a Tacoma-sized truck, and getting comparable towing range to what we are now used to. Don't even get started on Tesla's truck - I'm doubtful that will see any good range while towing 5000+ pounds.

    2. Infrastructure. In other words, fueling stations. It's there in some places, but not everywhere like gas pumps are now.

    3. Charging time reduced. Sitting at a charger for 20-30 minutes to "fuel up" is too long.

    4. Battery fade is eliminated. I'm not interested in losing range/performance over time, and eventually spending $$$$ to replace the battery pack.

Engineers will solve these problems eventually. But for now, I'll take my internal combustion engine. It generally performs the same until it runs out of fuel. I can find a gas station almost anywhere. And it takes 5 minutes or less to fuel up.

Sorry no, I actually spent the better part of an hour at the Tacoma and tundra (WAYYY too big) then spent time looking at all the new electric stuff. Was kind of lost in thought on the Tacoma so I didn’t take pictures. They only had a pro which was a bummer. Really nice but not what I want. And everything thing brought was MGM - Tacoma, tundra, sequoia. The new rav4s look really good. They had the new plug in hybrid there. My wife took this picture of me drooling

Your Tacoma doesn't go anywhere near 3-400 miles towing so there's that. If you own a Tesla the chargers are there all over the place so there's that, I feel sorry for anyone who tries to drive an EV other than a Tesla. You think that it is too long to "fuel up" until you actually realize how much time most people waste at a gas station actually fueling up on a road trip, plugging in a Tesla and charging to for 20-30 minutes for $12-13 (free if you got in on the free supercharging the they had it) beats the shit out of $45 in your fuel tank.

And don't knock the Tesla truck until it's out on the wild, I was nonbeliever in anything EV until we got a Model 3 a year or so ago. I have a Cybertruk on order and will be dumping the Tacoma as soon as I can get it.

    3. What would life be like when you need a charge on the go and there are people ahead of you at the charger?

It already sucks when you have to wait 5 minutes for a gas pump to become vacant when the filling station is at capacity.
