Those who drive less pay less federal, state and gas tax which pay majority of monies to build roads. Those who do not buy gas (i.e. EV’s) get a free ride.

Those who put solar panels on their house get: to take cost off their taxes, and depending on state a direct kick back.

    WHAT freebie???

That isn't how I understand it to work, but I don't own an EV so I'm not pretending to have experience. I thought it was a tax write off which seems to be exactly what you're describing for the oil/gas industry except it's going to normal folks...

Nothing. Just not what I want. I like a black truck. Last summer the salesman showed me a cement 2019 an I asked him “when are they going to paint it?”

glad you got that out. Feel better now. I never questioned the ownership of guns in this country as personally I am for it. No need for you to mention you work for the government i for one am not impressed as the level of incompetence I have witness throughout the government. Anyway glad you feel better about yourself. Piece out

Well it’s true that black shows the dirt and scratches more but I live in the northeast and at least half of the new vehicles I have bought have been black. If you intend to keep them for the long haul it’s the best color to camouflage rust spots which, no matter how diligent with rust proofing you are, will eventually show up up here. Plus a new black vehicle is just killer looking for the first few years.

Ah, never considered the "rust hiding" factor, as we do not deal with salt here. Wish you the best in your vehicle search. I really like my 2020 Tacoma, except the amount of space (or lack of) in the rear seating area. I've only had full size trucks and this is something I am adjusting to.

Eating an apple the old fashioned way, before fossil fuel industry, didn’t produce an excessive amount pollution.

Out of all the nuclear fission power plants out there? How many have actually failed? three? 3-mile, Chernobyl and Fukushima?

How many reactors have failed when all the submarines and warships are included?

it’s a technology that was never fully fleshed out and refined. I watched a TED talk where a guy described all sorts of newer and safer fission reactors that are being designed on paper, but are not being implemented.

Are we 100 years away from safer and more efficient fission reactors? Apparently not.

The money for buying a EV is a tax credit. Joe Citizen gets a job, makes a salary. Has a tax bill of $15,000. Buys a qualified EV. Joe then lowers his taxes by $7,500. Sweet deal. No risk all I see is upside.

Simon La Greed, 20 years in the business working for BigOil decides to go wildcat. Mortgages his house, talks brother, mother in law and a few rich aquatinted persons who just believe. Has 5 million cash. Goes to the bank with one hell of a good business plan. This is in the go go days with oil at $85 a barrel. Bank says WTH gives Simon 2 to 1. Simon now has 15 million, 10 million @ 6%. It costs Simon 5 million dollars to complete a well (Simon is really good). This includes cost for land acquisition, drilling, well completion, and transportation. Simon hits with his first well, it provides 400 barrels a day (Simon is real real real lucky). Stripper wells produce 2-3 barrels a day.

Lucky Simon Oil Limited still has $10 million in debt at 6%, $35,000 per day proven cash flow. $12.4 million first year cash flow. Production for unconventional oil wells falls off fast ~ 2-3 years. He needs to hit again, relatively quickly. Makes payroll for himself, 3 helpers and an office worker. Taking all the risk and responsibility into account. How is this the same?

That's a nice depiction of the American dream, but I'm talking more about the billions of dollars funneled to recipients like Shell and Exxon. Much of that is for resource exploration on public lands that you and I own, not them, and they pay pennies to lease it which is a subsidy in and of itself. I don't know what it's like in Maryland, but out here in the west this is in our faces everyday. I'm going to bow out of this one because it's not a rabbit hole I care to go down on TW. The point was that if you are going to complain about subsidizing EV's and green energy in general, then you have to at least acknowledge the flip side to that coin.

You keep making unsubstantiated statements. "Billions of dollars funneled" and "pay pennies to lease it". I'm just looking for some substance, facts.

PS Lucky Simon Oil went belly up in 2014-2015 when the price of oil went from $105 to $35. Risk.

Am I the only one lusting after a electric-swapped GT86, same great chassis and nearly perfect ergonomics, but with 2nd Gen viper torque?
