Don't forget an IG filter of some sort . That's my parking spot at work. If you look at the pic closely (rocker panel) u can see where I rubbed a good bit of the mud off with my pants when getting out of the truck. Great way to start the morning (office environment), but I'm usually the first one here. So, I just had to explain the big wet spot on my pants instead....

I really hope that this hasn't been asked earlier, but curious what "everyone on the electric car/truck bandwagon" thinks about battery life??? What do you do with the 2000 pound battery pack after the batteries go bad? Or are we just gonna wait to have this discussion 10 years from now when we have all these dead battery packs lying around?

Probably better than explaining it after your lunch break.

I remember reading a 4x4 rag once and they were featuring a dodge I believe. It was a one owner 20+ year old ranch truck. Arizona I believe. Paint was faded so bad in some spots that it was down to almost seeing bare metal. But no rust. It was a beautiful patina if you like that kinda thing. The magazine offered to paint it to bring it back to its glory days look. Owner said no way, it took me 20+ years to get it looking like this.

Presumably they can recycle them and reuse most of the components like we do with almost all other kinds of batteries...

For what it's worth, I'm not on the bandwagon or have any desire to own an EV at this point, but I think it's good that lots of other folks do. I can't figure out what pisses so many people off about other folks driving Teslas...

I have a buddy that has a truck like that. He's considering clearing the current surface to keep it the way it is. None of the rust is structural.

Don't make assumptions. Currently, batteries aren't being recycled. Best example of this, is a recent Duracell commercial where they brag about recycling 5% of their batteries. I've worked in auto manufacturing plants and currently work in manufacturing. We use battery powered forklifts and those batteries cannot be recycled either. They are being incinerated. And I'm in California. So you know that they'd be recycled if there was a way.

People just aren't talking about this fact and I seem to missing something here.

Here's what Google turns up. It seems like people are talking about it and the manufacturers are addressing it...

Unfortunately you are more correct than anybody wants to admit. The only metal that is readily recycled is aluminum. Even a high value metal like copper (wire) has issues people don’t want to deal with in the US.

You can recycle lithium, but not back into batteries. There are no methods that can recycle it back into the purity required to be useful.

I just noticed your giant-ass list of articles. Still.

That’s easy. Just find the hottest girl in the office and tell her it was her fault. :notsure:

Nice! So the HR is the hot one? I’d find reasons to stop by her office too.

Let's just hope they aren't addressing it with talk alone. Maybe they'll adopt a recycling program similar to how we process plastic?? That seems to be working really well for us. We just pack it up and send it to another country and let them deal with it.
