A little related to the electric vehicle discussion: Tesla claims 300+ miles on a charge. I’m calling BS. That’s in a perfect world of very light starts/stops. Turn on an A/C or heater and watch it drain away. My brother in law just had a charging station put in his garage. $5,000! That’s a hell of a lot of gas. When more and more people buy electrics there will be a time when us gas drivers won’t put up with subsidizing free charging stations and less taxes. Pisses me off already.

It's worse than that for us Tacoma owners. TFL has one that they put under load, even under a light tow/haul, range goes down to about 1/3. o_O

I'm all for electricalization (whatever). But, I don't want to drive 200 miles, then have to sit for 30 minutes, 45 minutes, in order to go another 200 miles. I love the idea of a plug in hybrid, because 99% of my driving is in the ~20 mile round trip range (5 mile work commute, it's awesome). But full electric, for me, just isn't there yet. If I had a full electric, I'd also have a second vehicle. So why bother....Just give me the plug in hybrid (hell, it can be a biodiesel :D). I have high hopes for a plug in hybrid pickup in the near future. We'll see if that actually happens.

I like electric guns but I don't know if I'd want to shoot myself with one.

I'm of moderate means and will let the more affluent early adaptors drive the price down and deal with the EV kinks (not a complaint).

That said, don't rule out fuel cells if solar-powered electrolysis gets more efficient. This would be Tesla's nightmare. Toyota would own it.

This is laughable... If that pisses you off then I wouldn't advise looking into the subsidies that the fossil fuel industry receives from the American taxpayer.

But those subsidies are passed onto ALL taxpayers equally. Yes it sucks but it's more fair across the board then giving free "fuel" to a special interest group.

There is a big difference between giving EV customers $7,500 each (essentially a direct grant) VS allowing the oil and gas industry to deduct their costs (of plant, R&D, etc), from their tax on profits.

I built a chicken coop with 24 solar panels.

It even has a Tesla Powerwall battery.
    7AED7A88-8C12-48D0-A942-E9040D09BDAA.jpg
It has an outlet for a plug in car.

    It even collects rain water.B87D594C-73B8-4E2B-8F7D-AA5DEF9CD3D7.jpg

These chickens can go completely off the grid if they want.

Toyota sucks, where’s my hybrid Tacoma?

Mad Skills. Need to add a composter to digest the chicken guano (see how woke and PC I am, practically Jeffersonian) and capture the methane.

It's not equal for people who drive less than others, or drive more efficient vehicles than others, or don't drive at all. It's not equal for folks who live in places like WA, OR, and ID where nearly all of our energy is from renewable sources. It's not equal for folks who put solar panels on their roof to offset their power bill. It's not equal for people who used to fish/hunt in places that are now devoid of life due to pollution or closed to access because of an oil/gas lease. It's definitely not equal for folks who are employed by the fossil fuel industry or are shareholders of those companies cashing in on the freebie.
