It was new tire time, so I went with the BFG AT KO2 LT265 /75 R16 (originals being 265 /70 R16). I was told this was the biggest I could go with factory suspension and it would add about an inch lift. Going with a bigger tire size than factory, I had some questions.

If my speedometer reads 65 MPH, how fast am I really going?

    Any changes in my MPG?

Anything else I need to know?

    Thanks.

I was going to go to the dealer, but they couldn't get the tires until May. So I went on line and found them at Discount Tire for about $50 less per tire than the dealer wanted. I wasn't sure what to expect from this place, but they worked over my truck like a pit crew and had it done in less than a hour. Came out to $907 installed (not counting tax).

If anyone is thinking of going this route, here's how it looks.

You’ll lose a couple mpg. The Speedo won’t change enough to worry about.
You should know and be ready for when they get loud. They also benefit greatly from more frequent rotation.

Just a Snug Top with Sportsman’s package 1 inch lift and 265/75-16 Duratracs.
I just put the same size tires on my 19 TRD OR the other month and did a freeway run after using gps. My speedo is exactly accurate now, it’s common for a lot of factory vehicles to be a few mph off and it happens to be perfect now. And yes, I lost a few mpg between mixed city/highway but it didn’t seem to affect it much on long road trips, so that’s cool.

Probably one of the coolest features of this forum is that tire calc IMO.

Working on the never ending list
Every truck I've owned has had BFG's, when I called to see what they would do trading in the OEM Good Year's I found out that the
265/70R-16's were on national back order and that the 265/75R-16's would work with a bit more height.

The install went off with out a hitch, no surprise as I've been a Discount Tire Customer for decades

After pulling out of the shop I ran on some surface streets about five miles until I could get to the loop, no more noise was noticed and yes the tunes were off.
Getting on the loop everything was still OK then about ten miles in I felt like I was sitting a bit higher in the rear and realized I was the one who pulled it into and
out of the shop so the 6-way power seat was where it should be and the rear view mirror was spot on, took a peak at the door mirrors and they were off a tad
and thought they might have folded them in as I took a call when they started the swap.

After getting a few errands done and parking it in the garage is when I noticed that the rubber hitch cover was about an 1" off it's previous mark on the wall
as I stood back it actually does not have that slight lean in the rear as it did before.

That is a good looking truck (minus the back bug deflector thing)

Yeah those are hideous. My 2016 came with one but I never removed it as I made that mistake on my Titan. Paint was damaged underneath from the mounts. Looked even worse removed lol.

I just never understood the point of them. The entire front end and hood is still exposed. Is there some other purpose?

Apparently to prevent rock chips. Caused worse damaged to my paint than the rock chips would have.

I've had a couple of vehicles with those "deflectors" on them. At freeway speeds, they kept the lower 4"-5" of the windshield clear of bugs. Totally worthless.

Discount Tire is a great place. I’d never buy tires at the Dealership. Or as some say here, Stealership. Even when they offer buy 3 tires and get 4th free, it’s ridiculously more expensive than any tire shop in town.

I was going to go with Discount Tire but local family tire shop offered $100 per stock Tire as I only have 200 miles on them. So I decided to go with them to save myself the trouble of selling them myself. Discount tire does offer credit for the tires coming off but they only give $50 per tire.

Do you notice any difference in the ride quality since sizing up slightly?

the speedo is off from factory. If you install 265s it'll actually make the speedo nearly 100% accurate from what I've heard

Not sure if I noticed any difference in the ride. Maybe feels a little spongier?
