Lots of folks bought 5100s off Jet and are happy... they have good prices but the stock comes and goes as does the deal. Don't forget there's a 15% coupon if you feel the need to purchase! So even better price.. Amazing really. Had I seen that before I bought my AAL's I'd have been all over it.

To the OP - yeah replacing wearable parts with new... probably not going to void my warranty. Toyota would have to prove defective parts caused my issue.. not likely since they use Bilstein struts and shocks as OEM parts. Different spring rates.. they already install different spring rates on different truck setups.

That's for a single spring... not a set.

No reason on god's green earth to pay ~$40K for a brand new Toyota and it starts squeaking like a rusted out 20 year old Dodge at only 10k miles and be accepting of it

But did they replace them with the same type ? If so then the problem will come back.
If not then there is a change/TSB ?
    Thanks.

Reading these boards is giving me a headache. Good information to know however.

At this point I just want the springs to be replaced even if that means I get 7k to 10k more miles out of them maybe by then Toyota will have the final solution implemented (TSB or recall). So interim, give me a new set of OEM leafs and let me go down the road. I'm paying for the damn truck every month. Humor me a little, Toyota.

Wow that could get expensive for them. What they do for one I would hope they do for all. Would you say this is a normal thing for any truck with age/miles ?

Well I had a 2003 Ford Ranger as my previous truck to this Tacoma. It had 160k miles on it and the springs did not squeak at all and I beat the crap out of that truck. It was my hunting rig. So why is it that a 6 month old Tacoma would start squeaking like this at 9k or 10k miles as mine did?

Nice man. They're telling me there's no point in putting new OEM leafs on because they'll just start squeaking again anyway. Corporate will not authorize them to replace my leafs. Field Service Engineer/Rep for my region is (whatever you call them) is coming out next week and will look at my truck. I've also been putting some pressure on corporate customer care too. Waiting for them to call me back. I called up there this afternoon and someone who is not handling my case said "Oh yeah we all know about your issue and your case manager is working on it today"

I've asked these questions specifically. I work in engineering and contracts so I understand how to poke them in the chest and pry for specifics pretty well. They can't show.me anything. They have said there is nothing for public release. They are remaining tight lipped on it. So any fix in works is really just speculation and conjecture as far as I'm concerned. the design on the replacement is just ever so different. wider leafs and more clips to keep the from shifting in places the shouldnt to keep them from squeaking as much.

Just got mine back today and they did NOT replace the springs or anything. They brought in a Toyota tech (TFS) and talked with the Tacoma engineers and they are not allowing the dealership to replace them as of this time. So I just have to live with it till they fix it apparently.

Sucky situation but that should mean that there will be an official fix coming out eventually as they are aware of the problem. They tracked it down to a bushing on the spring that when pushed on would squeak on demand. So it looks like I'll just be waiting now.
