I met up with nemesis17592 in Western Michigan for some season road driving. I have a gen-3 and he's got a gen-2. I was amazed at how much bigger the gen-2 is than a gen-3! We met with a few other folks (an Infiniti QX4, a Nissan Pathfinder, a Toyota 4RUnner, and a Jeep Liberty) and got in a few hours of fun. It's unseasonably dry and snow-free so it was a bit less fun than usual, but our trail photographer got a couple of nice shots. Here's what I grabbed from Facebook, so they're a bit small and I couldn't edit them well. He's sending me the full sized images that will edit up much better. Enjoy!

Looks fun. Depending on how far/where for next time, let me know when you go out. I'm in northern IL...I hit the copper harbor area of the upper peninsula over summer and had some fun but I was by myself & decided not to get too crazy since I had no cell service

Supposed to get a lot of snow this weekend. Might be a good time to head up over the bridge and do some snow wheeling!

We have a Toyota run scheduled for Sunday April 29 at Yankee Spring Rec area.

Drivers meeting at 1000 at the Subway across from Gun Lake Casino. Gas and food can be obtained there, too. We will leave about 1015 and be on trails until 1400. CB channel 4 will be used.

Just out of curiosity, were there any 2018's that attended? I haven't seen any on the road in the GR area and I'm looking for one to do a test fit on.

No 2018's. My 2016 was the newest rig there. It was awesome, though! This land Cruiser may have gotten a bit stuck (after he pulled me out of this same hole - yes, he went back to show me that he could make it).20180429_123620.jpg

Lol looks awesome! I'm pretty new to offroading. I've only been a couple times with my cousin while in the UP. I've never been to Yankee Springs. Is it novice/stock taco friendly? I'd like to go somewhere thats not too crowded for the first time to get a feel for it

Yankee is very tame other than a mud hole here and there, which you can go around. It would be great for a first timer.

YS is very stock friendly. The few muddy bits have easy go-arounds and will only eat you if you intentionally drive into them. Or have your head up your ass and don't follow your son who picked the smart line and you end up buried ... like I did. It is a lot of fun, lets you see parts of the world that are tough to get to without 4x4, a lot of walking, or a mountain bike.
