Gahh.. i cant have dairy. Im just going to have to watch you guys eat all the good stuff.

Usually if Im on a massive road trip (have only done one) I like to hit up the local TW people to set up a mini meet on the way. Its always great to put a face to the username, and or see their truck in person. But then again, just a suggestion.

I’ve done this many times - one of the perks of a trip like this.
I’m planning on an excursion the last two weeks in August next year, PNW specifically.

I'm with you. I wanna spend as much time camp as possible with a strategic mod trip hotel to get show and maybe do some laundry

I like that idea. Maybe we can organize a day of wheeling at Moab or somewhere nearby and open it up to TW as a whole.

In terms of getting out there, it would be cool if we could all convoy out together. It makes no difference to me where we head west from, I live in the southwestern most tip of CT so it's reasonably easy access to the more southern route @Redmann was describing. Going through Chicago on the way out or back would be great. But I'd like to take the north route (I-80) one way and the south route (I-70) the other so as to maximize the new sights seen. I have friends in both Chicago and St. Louis I wouldn't mind seeing too.

My limitations for planning this trip are definitely there though. I can easily look at Google Maps and such to figure out where we should all meet up to get out there, where we can do trails in a reasonable driving distance, and so on. But I'm not even going to volunteer to find campsites that can accommodate all of us, and I'm hesitant to make decisive calls on what is too early or late in the year to go so as to avoid snowed-in trails.

Hoping to have figured out the wedding date within the next few weeks, so that should enable me to work on nailing down when would be best for this trip to happen on my end.

July - August is probably going to be the warmest weather with least amount of snow issues. Camping temps would be pretty perfect and as far as where to camp and how to plan that. I have to assume it’s going to be relatively easy to find sites for single nights etc where you can just pop your tent, cook a meal and rest for the night.

I think camping out there is much different than east coast

@Roody @bski22 i was doing some reading on the different trails out there. It appears as though the best times are May/June through October. Not much different than out here. September should be perfect.

From what I've read, it's more like you go down this trail. Not like AOAA or rausch where a bunch of trails come together.

I will throw my support in for the motels/airbnb group. I'm an old man that likes to sleep comfortably. I'll camp some too but I'd prefer not to camp more than one night maybe two nights in a row. While camping I'd likely be sleeping in my hammock. If there's no trees are two roof racks sturdy enough to hang a hammock between the two of them?

I'll also support a 2018 trip. Fall 2019 is a really long way off. I don't know that I'd wait that long. We start talking about this enough and I might just head on out there to check it out on my own if I had to wait to 2019.

I'm with you on the camping part. One maybe two nights in a row, but no more than that. Just enough to get the experience, haha. On the other note, I'd be down for 2018 also. I saw everyone saying 2019, so I was just trying to make it easier for the crowd. Shit, I would go both in 2018 and 2019! My limitations are just work. 2 weeks off per year along with 5 PTO days. My girl moved to Boston and now, more than ever, I'll use one week dedicated for her and I.
