For sure. I think it’s just the wife kid and I on the first leg of trip which would be NS. And second leg we meet up with a few friends and camp out in mount desert island camp grounds and do some hiking at Acadia for a few days

Yep the airport, first time out on the west coast,. The terrain is so foreign compared to the east coast

Here is the link for the trail status page I mentioned before. Just scroll down, select the pass and it will give the available updates on trail conditions. Something to keep in mind to decide the season to go.

Anyone into bikes also interested in some 2 wheel action while out west? I know there could be an entire trip dedicated to cycling but a couple of trails would be fun given the area.

Been dreaming of a trip to Colorado for a while now. Came through the Rockies back in 03 and wanted to go back since. Hopefully in the future that will happen. Kid number 2 on the way in January will probably put a damper on those plans for a bit.

I’m new to the area so I don’t know it super well but in a few months I’ll know a lot more so yeah, possibly.

You’re right that there are fewer intersecting trails and it’s fairly easy to navigate. There are also good maps of most areas.

Do you know how challenging most trails are? I imagine they are very easy going. I know there are ORV parks but Id love trails that go places and have actual obstacles that need to be overcome. I have no idea what Colorado is like.
