Morning pre final inspection today

 

Look at that grass!!! Oh and the house is looking good too!

Do you guys have much left to do, or just the inspections? Hopefully they don't catch much today.

 

Railing on one small deck and still have not started the 30x12 deck . Inside railings on 2 sets of stairs and hopefully that’s it .

 

Inspection went well ! So we need to finish the big 12x30 deck and stair railing in house . Blower door test also which is ridiculous

 

So, the blower test.

My contractor retired 5 years ago...or so he says. Anyways, it was basically because he hates all this new stuff and doesn't think he needs it to build a nice house. So when he built our house last year he was really stressed and pissed off about the thing. We literally have to make it so tight you need to supplement outdoor air, it drove him wild. He worried a lot about it too.

It went smooth and easy and now he sorta gets excited about them. He built a house for my cousin this year that is one of those crazy crazy effecient ones, I dont remember the name they call them. Anyways, that got him even more into it.

Now he's building my MIL's house and its half of what he talks about and drives a lot of choices on the build. Window placement, insulation etc....


I don't know why I rambled all this except to say, I feel ya, its annoying but it isn't that bad and if you guys fail, it probably is good to know where the contractor messed up NOW, rather than 3 months later when it's -20 and theres a draft from somewhere....




Framing, electrical and plumbing inspections coming up this week/weekend for us. Windows, doors and all that jazz next week and roof starts in an hour for us!

 

Morning. I need to look at these plans again . Some one mentioned I might not need the blower door test since it’s a modular . I recall something on the plans but it escapes me at the moment

 

Not sure about modular, maybe they test them at the factory and it is pre approved, but I wouldn't count on it. How else can the local guys get their hands in the pot?
