Power out still, since 4 yesterday. Tons of hail and trees down.

business one house down has full power so that’s where I am today with the baby.

@lynyrd3 this insulation and code shit is really discriminating against not super rich people. It’s passed as a green thing but like all the rest of them
It’s just money laundering to the people who paid your senators.

We are at a point where enough is enough and things need to change across the board imo.

Power is back! Going to look at generators. House was pretty chilly this morning and we had to spend the day in the business where there was power and heat. Middle of an ice storm we might be in trouble.

Some houses in town were told noon Saturday!!!

It's a damn good thing that was a fast moving storm. It did a lot of damage in a very short amount of time.

Spent the day removing fiberglass insulation from rim joist on the modular and spray foaming directly then cut to fit rigid insulation in each cavity then foam around that and reinstalled the fiberglass batts . Bought a insulation tent that goes over the attic access panel ,then caulked the access panel shut .. More spray foaming in attic also . Here and there door weatherstripping. I really don’t know where a draft could come from tomorrow during the second blower door test . I’m not letting the guy leave until we pass  or no check for him

Make sure you run water in all drains to fill the traps. Also, if you have a smoke pen or incense stick you can hunt down leaks when the blower is on/House is pressurized.
If you can get your hands on a FLIR infrared camera, you can find the leaks by “looking” with the FLIR outside while the blower is on. The details will get you.

Just got off the phone with national grid, they are charging a neighbor 25k less and the only difference is 400 feet. Woman told me it was labor, like it isn't a fucking machine doing it and we didn't spend 15k prepping it for them.

The were told to fuck off, we will not give them a penny. If I'm getting a loan for electric Im going solar. Worst comes to worse we are going to run secondary.

Its robbery, and a fucking crime. The people in this state that let this happen ought to be hung in the public streets.

I hadn’t heard back but I think maybe they talked to someone a little higher up.

contractor called and said we are on the schedule still (I told them to fuck off and take me off it) and that the big boss supervisor is coming to the site in person because something is very wrong. Not sure what lit that bulb in their head finally but it sure wasn’t me. The electrician I guess was on the phone a lot too and he might have finally mashed their Heads together.

Contractor says “don’t piss anyone else off and hold on, we might be okay”

so I’ll let them handle it. But I have my buddy coming for solar information next week still Incase.

Well failed again . Last test was 1037 this test was 830 . Needs to be under 800 . It will pass with 2nd floor doors closed . (770) Doors need to be open to pass .Fucking guy not giving us a break . I told him the foundation has R10-12 blue Dow up to grade out side . He took all info to his office to run through a ResCheck software program to see if he can get it to pass . My daughter has been crying over this . This house has been nothing but problems from the get go . Fucking pissed off :annoyed:

Wow. Just wow. So close and nothing for all that effort.

Hope they can make it work at the office but sorry to hear all this. Nothing is easy these days.

My brother contacted his connection to the modular company who put him in touch with a blower door test guy . My brother gave him all the info on the house and the numbers they came up with and this guy said they are an embarrassment to the industry and thieves . With those numbers it should pass . So when original guy calls me Monday with the results and they don’t pass my brothers guy said he will come Thursday and pass it .

What if the blower guy you used is giving factual results, and the modular company sends up somebody just to pass it even though the house is leaking badly? They have incentive to not have to repair the house.

That would be my concern...the modular folks who set the boxes should know the big areas that need attention as the parts come together. With today’s building technology, air leaks become moisture vapor highways that often lead to significant (if not catastrophic) moisture damage.

The number we are missing by is minuscule. There is nothing wrong the house . Lots of other factors to consider . The original guy doing the testing doesn’t even have his volume numbers correct so the CFMs are off . Scam to keep coming back and charging us . If I was an actual contractor he most likely would have passed it

well....the appraiser just checked out the truck.
Limb came down on it from that quick but nasty storm that ripped through here Wednesday evening.
Windshield totally smashed and some roof damage. There is one spot right on the windshield line that concerns me. It caught the appraisers eye too. He said it would need body work. :(
Has anyone heard of or know about Oliver AB? I see on their site that they do windshields, so I thought...one stop shopping.

Looks like it is the bike for me for a while. :pout:
