Yeah, they are in really good shape.
Want to get back there with a crayon/paper to get a better idea of what that quote says on the headstone pic.

There is also an old abandoned cemetery in Hinsdale/Windsor. It's on Hinsdale Rd. here. I can't remember which side of the brook, though.

There are two ways to access it. Either take New Windsor Rd. in Hinsdale past the substation to the closed section of the road or go up Old Windsor Rd from Dalton to Hinsdale Rd. and continue onto the closed section. There used to be a bridge over the brook, but they tore it out a few years ago. I'm not sure what kind of shape the road is in. Haven't been there in a few years. If I remember correctly, there were some stones from the 1700s there.

I tried looking at old maps to see where it was on the road, but I can't find it mentioned anywhere. If I remember right, it had maybe 15-20 stones in it.

:spy:no sir wasnt me. I took my lunch break from work around 1, went to chinese place on tyler, then back to work. Never went in that area. I do frequent that area though. I like to go up in that big empty g.e parking lot, near where the cut through road used to be between east st and tyler st. its fun up there during winter as well, to test the truck out. I just posted a pic in the "trucks next to heavy machinery" thread, of me up there. There is some sort of construction going on up there. After 5, it is completely deserted, and they leave all their tools unattended up there, just sitting in 5 gallon buckets:gossip: Ill see about getting a tacomaworld sticker for my truck. Thatll make me stand out a bit.

this intrigues me. I did a lot of exploring the regions spooky places last fall. I too went to a seemingly abandoned cemetery in windsor sf. Its right across the street(dirt road) from camp windigo, the supposedly haunted abandonded camp(which i also explored). there is multiple crumbling buildings overrun with vegetation on the site. Was this the cemetery you were in @DrFunker ? Or maybe theres more than one in windsor s.f. There would have been a sketchy looking barn nearby if me and you were in the same one. I also found a hidden, tucked away cemetery right off the road on lanesboro road, where you turn onto it in cheshire. And, there is a cemetery ontop of october mt as well, ive just never ventured up there.Screenshot_2015-07-19-19-55-44.jpgthis is the exact location. Near the intersection of windingo rd and windsor jambs rd. The abandoned camp is the group of buildings on the left. The barn is across the rd, and the cemetery is just above the barn. This area is creepy as hell at night.

One time, me and two friends went to camp windigo around midnight, and there was a large group of people holding hands around a fire. We got the f*** out of there fast. Maybe they were harmless, but images of human sacrifice were racing through my head.:goingcrazy:

I know you are in the Elm area often. :D Thought I'd ask.
We will run into (not literally) one another one of these days.

Great narrative! I only wish we had places like that to explore out here on the other side of the state. Very:jellydance:, by the way for some reason I never got the "bat signal" from that tag you left me in that post??? Just the an alert from the the other thread you quoted my post from.

you do have them. Danvers mental hospital comes to mind. Also the Lizzy Bourdon house, which my sister and I plan on staying there at some point. They said some guests don't even manage to stay the whole night without leaving:eek:

I have never been to Camp Windigo. Probably have driven past it, but never looked around.

There is another abandoned camp--Camp Lenore in Hinsdale. You can drive most of the camp roads. There are a couple tennis courts left (with trees growing through them) and a water tower. Used to be a 50s Ford station wagon sitting back there but someone pulled it out of there.

If you follow the roads through, you can get to the boat ramp on Ashmere. I have never taken my truck past the water tower.

    See the tennis court:

Windigo is worth checking out. Bring a friend or two though. The risks of running into punks, or even falling through a floor are there. Can you give me a little description of where the Hinsdale camp is? I will certainly check it out.

It's probably around 2 miles west of the Hinsdale center on Rt 143. If you see a road called Lenore Dr., you have gone too far. It's at the top of the hill just before that road. You'll see a dirt road and a couple of stone pillars off to the side. Almost directly across from Pine Cone Lane.

If you drive down that road, you'll see an abandoned tennis court through the trees almost immediately. You'll hit a V just after that. If you take the left it'll cut through a field and around to the water tower. The right will come out just past the water tower. Both paths come together again and you can follow them to the lake. The road is in reasonably good shape to at least the water tower. After that I'm not sure.

Nothing left for buildings. They tore down the mansion maybe 15 years ago and a lot of stone is left near the water tower from it.

This is what you're looking for off of 143:

Thanks. I will check this out within a few days. I love abandoned areas where nature is taking over. Theres something eerie, yet peaceful about them, that you cant get anywhere else. The city of Pripyat near chernobyl would be amazing. Detroit is heading that way as well! I would also recommend the Becket quarry to you. The interesting thing about that place is it literally looks like one day they just packed up and left. There are old machines, cables, and even an old car just laying there rusting into the ground. It is really quite the sight to see. To get there, go down Bonnie Rigg Hill Road in Becket. Follow it to Quarry road. Go down Quarry road, and there is an unnamed road off of that which goes to the Quarry. You can see it on your satellite map. It is an unnamed road that goes to a water filled pit. The road has a little "hook" at the end of it.
