Heck yeah I grew up there so but it has changed immensely since then but it's still cool and lots of history that's cool to know. Go watch the movie Bull Durham a couple of those houses that are in some of the scenes were some of my families houses and I grew up watching the Bulls play ball in that stadium.

    Howdy all!

Asheville, NC seems to be where it’s at. Just picked my 1st gen up about a week or so ago after searching for months to find the right one. I knew there had to be plenty of Tacoma owners here since they practically rule WNC. Read through and saw lots of folks from the surrounding area so I hope to see you all at meet-ups if they happen around here.

If you see The Fett and Dashboard Jesus out and about, give us a wave!

Welcome to WNC @Boba_Taco . We don't have any meet up locally in Asheville that I'm aware of, but willing to do some. I have a few guys planning on doing the Hurricane Creek trail in a couple weeks of interested. Sharp 1st gen!

Thanks, she’s definitely looking sharper with each part that shows up. Another member mentioned Hurricane Creek earlier today. I’ve heard of Max Patch which I guess is reached by way of hurricane creek, so that sounds like a ton of fun. I’ll see if the wife is up for it. We’ve been itching to get out.

Hurricane creek is a little north of Asheville off of I-40 West. It's fairly easy. I plan on heading down to the Asheville area this weekend as well if you want to meet up.

IMG_3867.jpg Ignore the name, I was living in Iowa for a job when I joined TW. Living in Fletcher now with a 2015 TRD Sport only started on the mods. TRD Pro grill and selling my ARE Topper (DM if interested) for a bed rail system like Voodoo rack to lower my RTT height to below my Cab height for more clearance and better MPG. Tires are next on the list torn between BFG KO2's and Falken Wildpeak At3w on my stock sport wheels. IF any of ya'll mountain bike lets get together I need some dudes to ride with .

Hopefully one day they’ll open some of these roads in Pisgah that’s been closed for the entire 5 years I’ve lived here. Kinda blows my mind how they spent no telling how much money and time to build them just to be rarely used and become over grown. In my head I imagine an off-road paradise behind all the gates but I assume they’re probably fairly boring. Would make for a summers worth of weekend exploring though.7BAD5FB6-8DD8-481F-A24D-4FC26AE06FF3.jpg

There are tons of service roads like that in Nat'l Forests and Parks they are built for fire fighting or says my uncle who use has done pretty much every job in the forest service. Out west a lot of those roads are accessible to the public. Also even though Pisgah is a Nat'l forest a ton of the land is privately owned. One of my scouts has family land in Pisgah to the tune of 500 acres and the roads on his property are gated like that.

You know Ima dreamer, and my heart’s offroad. I had to drive away high, so I didn’t get stuck low. Home Sweet Home...
Last time I wheeled, It was up Turkey Creek Gap Rd through the N Mills River Rec area and back to 276 which is right up into Pisgah NF from Brevard. It will be a little crowded this weekend. Nice views. TOTALLY beginner friendly. Not even 4wd required unless it gets wet. An option for you, Anyway.

    Good luck and have fun!

I got to Linville Gorge Thursday, just as they finished grading the roads.
I think they need to do it again, so the regular cars can get in. :)
    I had no trouble.

You could probably get some good pictures and video from the local news, WLOS TV.

So, what @DC-USAF said, but also, These are from our back yard, right behind the asphalt drive... DISCLAIMER: This is really deep, but I realize how insignificant it is compared to other damage on the area. Lord help those loosing property, or worse, family and friends in this excessive weather!

This erosion has been eating away with each heavy rain... we only noticed it when our dog fell in up to his belly, with the ivy growing over, and hiding the cut in the earthen slope. When i went to clean the ivy out with the weed wacker, i fell in upnto my crotch... then i knew it was worse than it appears and was really careful cutting the ivy away from the top edges of the cut.

I’d estimate it’s about 5’ 8” down to the middle and aboit 7’ across, and runs further than i was able to trim... That is a full size True Temper wood handle pitch fork in the cut, for scale.
