It will be another month or two before I can do it. I'm still trying to build up my quad muscles from my recent knee replacement.

You know Ima dreamer, and my heart’s offroad. I had to drive away high, so I didn’t get stuck low. Home Sweet Home...
I think the fish will still be there then, God willing. Have a speedy recovery. Those quads are essential for a good wade.

Where do you fish when you go to PNF?

The lower/further away from the BRP, the more open, and longer rods you can use. The further up, I have to switch to a featherweight, or just use my ultralight spinning rig with single hook lures. I enjoy the Hatchery, if I can get there early enough. Otherwise, all the way up and down 276, even over the BRP, down 215 (?) towards Canton, and to where the Davidson spills into that lake at the Episcopal Retreat Property. There is a public fishing access close and the folks from CWO use that property for many of their seminars, so they are open to responsible fishing along that river.

I've never fished on the other side of the parkway. I've had pretty good luck fishing Sycamore flats in the late evenings.

I mostly spin fish ultralight, haven't fly fished in ages.I really like the tough to get to spots where most of the foot traffic stops.

I have caught some monsters over in Transylvania county.Several 5lb and a 7 and 8lb rainbows. Now that i have moved out near Waynesville going to try some of the rivers and creeks out this way.

Here is one of my spots

Unfortunately the past few years haven't been kind to me and I can't make the long hikes to get away from everyone now.
I've been using 6lb fishing line on a 5 1/2 foot rod for years maybe I should start using 8lb line after seeing your post. I keep six rods in my truck at all times so I just have to grap my wading boots and some other small gear and I'm ready to go (when I get to walk without crutches).

SC here, but looking forward to a long Father's Day weekend in WNC. Headed to the Snowbird for camping and trouting! Always a good time.

If you are planning on traveling on Hwy 9 you will need to find a different route. There was a mud slide that covered the road and according to the news it may take a couple of months to clean it up.

Yeah I seen that yesterday and the drone video is crazy. That's a lot of mud and no way 7-10 days like the one story I read wasit saying's. I was expecting to take 9 from Chimney Rock to My Mitchell but we will find another way. I'm more concerned if Chimney Rock State Park will be open in time.

I would call the park and ask them. I live about 45 minutes from it and never been up it.
